Kerr joins the dons

Scottish Premier Aberdeen
comment on the article

Mark Kerr has just joined the dons on a 2 year deal, guess this means Seve will drop b ack into defence, although i admit I would still like to see big Bakens on board along with a good strker to play alomgside Miller. Lambert at Bristol Rovers is a class act and would get the 20 goals a season we need. Time for wiggy to splash the cash on a striker or another average season at best

No-one that sat through the humilation of the 4-1 semi at Tynecastle nor the 4-3 embarassment at Hampden will share your view.

Well your wrong cos I was at both and I do share his view.

Everyone is welcome to thier opinion but to say it was a shocker is an absolute joke!!

You obviously haven't been supporting the Dons very long so I'll let you off BigRustler .

Was at both semi finals Rustler and still hold my opinion..

''It sounds to me that too many people are starting to buy into Jimmy's post season propoganda about 4th place in the league, two cup semi's and last 32 of Europe being pretty good for a BAD season.'' I would say that is pretty factual rather than any kind of propoganda or spin.

The simple fact that we lost players in January AND competed in more games over the season AND remained in more competitions distinguishes last season from being average.

Looking back in a few years time at the table it wont read -

4th Aberdeen ( nearly finished in 6th or 7th)

I think they are entitled to the comments regarding last season, I have high hopes for this season also, but dont expect the same roller coaster ride that last years was.

Tony Montana and Wullie - like you both say were all entitled to our opinions and i respect yours.

What i cant believe is that a season that contained those two Cup Semi-Final performances can be classed as successfull. In 20 years of going to see the Dons games Ive never exactly been spoilt like we were in the early 80's but i honestly put the 4-3 Queens game down to being the worst result and performance ive ever seen from us in that time - and i'll even include the Queens Park debacle 2 seasons ago.

The fact that as a support we are now accepting such failures really does sadden me. Rollercoaster it might have been but ultimately it ended in dissapointment on all fronts and I cant see the success in that.

We were awful last season. Fact. Whether or not you agree that in terms of achievements it was a good season or not, is a completely different matter, but in terms of quality of football, we were rotten, bar about 6 games. We won one game in Europe, and were humiliated twice in Cup semi-finals, once by a team the Ostriches keep reminding me finished below us, and once by a team of journeymen a league below us. Montana and Willie are clearly smoking whatever The Pumpkin is if they think we played "great" stuff all year. In fact, at least The Pumpkin has admitted we were shocking in the league.

Regarding Kerr, I think he is decent. Not spectacular, but definitely the level of player I would expect us to be looking at. I'm glad we've signed someone who is a known quantity, rather than some god-awful Dutch pub league or Charlton Athletic youth team reject. A few more now please.

"Yes we had a spell where things did not go for us, mainly due to European distractions, but all included you cannot state it was ever average."

when people speak garbage like this no wonder threads get turned into negatives and arguements. montana: "spell where things did not go for us," a spell? no mate we had a spell where we were good in the league, i.e 5 games over the course of the whole season. as for being average i'd go as far as saying we were utter shite the majority of the time. spare me the 2 cup semis guff i still feel like bubblin every time i think about how i felt at both games. aye the uefa cup run was magic never in my wildest dreams did i think i could be in places like madrid watching the dons play. but for you to come away with crap like you have above is a joke.

The point of this thread was centred around the word average and my argument stems from there, have not alleged that we played scintillating stuff because I know it was tiresome to watch at times, still maintain that it was not an average season.

Sorry you think its crap Ebbe guess am just a little more positive a person than yourself.

The spell I refer to was after January when Clark and hart left and the squad was depleted further, combined with injuries and also the toll of further games.

I cant agree with our season being classed as utter s**.

Some people just do not have realistic expectations of what they see Aberdeen FC being capable of.

i see them as capable of performances where they destroyed teams like copenhagen, rangers, falkirk, dundee united and hibs. then for jimmy to totally change things, the players to change things whatever and put in performances that sickened me on countless occassions. i can't believe for 1 minute you don't no what i mean, cause if you don't you clearly weren't at games. they even outfought celtic at parkhead, matched lokomotive and even BEATEN panathanikos. then almost the same team are played off the park by hamilton. why, IMO jimmy and his take no blame i am the king attitude.

Of course I know what you mean! I think the away game at hibs when we were up 2-0 and ended up 3-2 losers sums up exactly the bipolar performances the Dons could produce.

I also agree Jimmy tinkers too much, but we dont always know the full extent of why i.e injuries, fitness.
