GOSSIP COLUMN

comment on the article

Pre-season might be a time footballers dread but for gossip it's prime time and there's plenty of it about.

GOSSIP COLUMN

Chelsea may as well put in a revolving door at Stamford Bridge with a numbers of players set to come and go as owner Roman Abramovich is again set to delve into his plentiful pockets of cash.

Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni says Robbie Keane should switch Tottenham for Liverpool, so this will probably enamour the Italian to Spurs fans about as much as Arsenal winning the Premier League.

Or do Spurs fans actually think Robbie Keane should go?

And what Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor doing? Is he staying or going? Do Arsenal want to keep him or not?

Let us know your thoughts on the goss?

superjack88 - Get rid of Mikel? I appreciate he's anoying ball bag of a person of a similar ilk to Cashley Cole but he looks a very good player and barely out of his teens. Would imagine Drogba, Shevchenko, Pizzaro, Ben Haim, Boularouz and Baletti/Ferreia might be higher on your list of people to show the exit door to this summer. Hell aren't you still paying Crespo and Veron!?

-----------

Oh it's completely because I don't like him, I agree he's a good player who is probably going to get better.

Though atm Essien and Ballack are certainly better players.

According to advocaat and hiddink, its because he has never been given the freedom he needs to be effective. He has always been known to be a quality player, but he never really delivered in a set role as a striker or a RM. There are a lot of players like this in the world (Joe Cole IMO) who given the right role in the team can be devastiting, but put them in a set position and they can look ineffective.
...............
I advise you to check out Essien and O'shea.

O'shea like Essien can play anywhere and still be effective.

Firstly, if it's true, Queeras should take the Portuguese job as refusal to do so could be deemed nothing short of being an insult to his country.
Also, it would provide him with a platform for future employment and widen his choice to other big clubs.
Secondly and more importantly Chelsea need to offload Sidwell, Belletti, SWP, Boularuz, Belletti and Pizarro. Three younger players already on loan that leaves just the question of Lamps and Drogs, who if they leave will need replacing. Chelsea will hold onto Mikel, Kalou,
and all of their younger squad members.

Of all the players Chelsea have targeted this summer, I would have to say that they all look like perfect additions if they arrived next season. Arshavin would link up well with the players in Chelsea's already star packed midfield such as Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and new boy Deco.
Robinho, also would do well at Chelsea and is I believe a very versatile player who could play up front, on the wings or behind the strikers. He would add more pace to the Chelsea team.
If Chelsea can offload some players in the summer and weigh up some extra cash, I'm sure that two players, Robinho and Arshavin would be very tempted in coming to Stamford Bridge this year.
