Di Matteo, who has not managed before, beat off 40 applicants to get the job and said he is not worried about his lack of experience.

Blimey, he must have been desperate for the job to do that. Must have strong wrists as well!

short-term solution at best - if he's a success then he's off to the premiership next year, if he's a failure then that's hardly ideal for wimbledon either

rushie - yes he may be more likely to be approached by a premier leaguie club than another successful league 1 manager, but success will only really be promotion in 2 years, which will not hurt the club. And they may be thinking long term, and trying to raise the profile of the club on a european level....very ambitious yes but could succeed

Rodders wrote "...Someone who can bang in 20+ goals is a must IMO."

Umm... last season we were joint third highest goalscorers in the whole Football League (behind West Brom and Posh) and our top scorer (Mark Wright) got 14. Who needs strikers?

When was he appointed Wimbledon's manager?

loughton don - league 2 is actually quite a step up from league 1. Wright will be more of an average winger, Gallen will not be able to handle it, the pace will be far too much, Wilbraham a midfielder these days anyway, Jemal Johnson a better winger. So really I think a striker or possibly 2 should be a priority. Someone with pace, strength and finishing ability as honestly all 4 of the supposed strikers (that i can think of) will not have what it takes to be a top striker in that division. Gallen and Wilby far too slow and Wright and Johnson too lightweight and not really central players anyway.

For the record of the 5/6 games I saw last season I thought Wright looked pretty poor despite scoring in a few of them. He seems to do precious little else apart from lose the ball an awful lot.......pls correct me if I'm wrong

I assumed that's what "Dons" was short for? What does it mean then

Its not short for anything. It used to be.

Now I am going to assume you are not a thicko and do actually realise Wimbledon FC no longer exist (and haven't done for some time now) and that the MK Dons came about because of the related business deal (but I am not going to go into that or we will have post after post debating the rights and wrongs of the deal).

Well they should just get rid of the Dons nickname if they want to truly be independant from the old Wimbledon; right now it's like they're still sitting on the fence, using both names at once. What's wrong with just "Milton Keynes"? I might get behind them when they drop the association with Wimbledon.
