Yes it's a lot of money but i'm sure he would rather have the title of Tour De France winner so good luck to him.

Most (if not all) tour winners put the money into a pot to be shared by the team - so Menchov, Boogerd et al would have received a share - considering that Rasmussen was never a team player (didn't train with them pre 07 tour) and appears to be friendless I can't see that happening.

I wish him good luck because there is no harder sport than being a pro-cyclist and i dont believe he took any drugs, he has to live with being stripped of winning the Tour De France which looked odds on at the time and any passionate cyclist would rather have the title than the money.

i think his book, should he write one, would make an interesting read. i'm no fan of the chicken, but i kind have some sympathy for how he was treated by his employer, especially as they were complicit in his whereabouts. i guess that is why they are to pay out on his contract even though a ban was (rightly) upheld.

Perversely, i think if he had been allowed to finish the Tour (as winner), Astana would be riding this year. it's just my view on what is a "very French thing".

Call me a cynic, but a sudden improvement in performance by a bloke in his thirties is always suspicious, and couple that with missed tests etc... reminds me of another ageing Dane of not-too-distant vintage.
