Transfers

Premier League Middlesbrough
comment on the article

I really hope that we get at least one new player in before the players return for pre season, unlike last year when we did everything last minute. I would like us to go for robinson and huddelstone and giles barnes, these are the sort of players we should be going for. If we are going to sign 3 midfielders does this mean that we are going to sell one of our midfielders or not.I for one cannot wait until the new season starts, all of us boro fans need to make the riverside into a fortress

as a derby fan im bewildered why you want giles barnes, who proved that he cannot make an impact for the worst premiership side ever, what would he do at boro?

Lower the average age of the squad.

emnes looks a good player on youtube, but then again so did lee the dong. Pacey with a good shot, reckon he could be played behind alves or right wing, depends where southgate wants tuncay. I'd put digard straight in with arca down the centre and downing on the left. Shame for shawky tho, he looks quite strong just needs games.
Digard to become the new Michael Debeve, you saw it here first.

You just hit the nail on the head. Barnes, talented as he is, had nobody around him. As a midfield player, you can be the best passer of the ball in the world, but if you don't have anybody capable of sticking the ball in the net, you look a mug anyways.

Same goes for defending...even the best players are only 1 of 11 on the pitch. I think Barnes would do well if he had a good setu-up around him.

As for Digard...I think he sounds promising, but it's probably an indication that Southgate is resigned to Boateng going. If Digard works out, he'll give Cattermole an insentive to play well as well. Only slight reservation is the business with the PSG board...we don't want an Anelka-esque temperament from ANY of our players.

hes a midfielder not a forward, he can play makeshift forward.

and as for not having an impact with no players around him, Hossam Ghaly, Sterjovski and David Jones had some impact, even though it may not have been a massive one they showed glimpses of what they are about, as a derby county season ticket holder i can tell you when barnes was on the pitch he did faff all apart from score against newcastle who very kind to us and gave us 4 of our 11 points!

He is a quality player. To think he started at humble Le Havre.

he seems a quality guy
lets give him his chance in the prem. like with rochemback when he first came i think he will take time to settle but give the lad a chance he shouldcomplete the midfield along with arca.
