Sunday's transfer gossip

comment on the article

Just done today's gossip column and, like the proverbial bad penny, the same names keep appearing.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

Ronaldo, a Manchester United winger you might just have heard of, apparently devised an exit strategy back in December. All sounds very Machiavellian, though Uefa boss Michel Platini is thought to approve of Real's move for the Portuguese star.

Emmanuel Adebayor looks like he might be leaving Arsenal, but that is just fine with boss Arsene Wenger who The Independent says would happily swap the striker for £30m.

Peter Crouch could go back to Spurs in a little for large deal that would see Robbie Keane go the other way.

And finally, could transfer fees soon be a thing of the past as Wenger suggests? And what would happen to columns like this if they did?

Let us know your thoughts.

Forget Adebayor, forget Ronaldo. For me the most valuable player of this summer is Marcos Senna. I have heard wonderful stuffs about the guy, but his performance at Euro 08 would wipe the floor with any footballer out there. He is 3 players packed into one body. He can hold the midfield like Makalele, he can dribble himself out of any situation, and his long range shot on the fly is second to none. I have watched him hit a moving ball and repeatedly keeps it flying low for 30+ yards. He is the player that should be making the news this summer. I would break the bank to have him in my team.

kandinsky,

Sena has opened many eyes, but he is 30, and Villareal is in CL next year. Meaning other than "money is not a problem" team like Chelsea, teams may not be willing to pay a high transfer fee for a 30 year old.
But I agree he is the rock that hold Spain's ship to a steady course.

I know we (Arsenal) are linked to him in today's BBC gossip section, but I suspect it is because some lazy journalists even get their scoop from 606 boards, for in Arsenal' 606 board few of us (Including me) were writing about buying Sena.

Senna is a great defensive midfielder. He could have another 5 years in him, like makelele. However, he could suddenly fizzle out like Gilberto.

He is a good player and SAF looked at him for United about two years ago.

Whether he is likely to be the sort of signing Wenger would go for for you I dont know. Wrong side of 30 and would cost a few quid.

Senna's good, don't get me wrong, but Mascherano is better in the long run.

£30m for Adebayor!? Arsenal should really push their luck and ask for Eto'o plus cash.

I like the idea of Christian Vieri swapping Florence for Hull. I'm trying to understand exactly how that could possibly happen and in which parallel universe.

I think Vieri would rather play beach football than go to Hull.
