An awesome Euro '08.
Turkey, Russia - very impressed with their performance. Great games, great goals, great hosts. Very little violence, hardly any racist comments - that's what FOOTBALL is about.
Now let's get the "slow" North Americans to stop calling this game "soccer". It's FOOTBALL all the way. (they took a World famous "brand name" and applied to their own "padded" game.
But I'm not bitter. Football is great and I hope it stays that way - brings people together, in a non-violent way.

Radioleg,

You may also want to thank England for not qualifying for the Euro 2008 and making it boring...!!!! biggrin Had they qualified, they would have deprived us of such a wonderful Russia vs Netherlands QF !

Turkey played like absolute heroes!
No other team could have come from behind as many times as they did!

Nor as late on so many occasions!
Their never say die spirit was heroic - a joy to watch!

So many injuries yet they just kept going - fantastic!

Turkey showed the rest of the world that international football is about teamwork, belief and pride in the shirt!

Englands overpaid chumps - take note!

Turkey showed the world how to play with heart, abandon and as a team. Well, done men. Entertainment and life lessons.

As a neutral who arbitrarily decided to support Turkey, this has been an exceptional tournament for me.
Turkey have really reinvigorated football - the top sides rarely play with passion and heart the way Turkey did, and it was truely endearing to watch this team progress, and the manner in which they did it, scoring plenty of last minute goals and keep on fighting despite losing all their stars. I hope their players find success following these Euros with better clubs.

I don't think you can give Fatih Terim any praise for the way the Turks played. He is clearly passionate and animated in the way we all like managers to be but his team had no clue what they were doing. They just knew they had to do it longer and later that their opponents. Such unpredictability and erraticism are qualities a coach dispenses with so that a formulated plan is executed.his team were like headless chickens and the tournament was better for it but that is not good coaching at all.

Turkey was fantastic.

What struck me was that the Turkish players were not the largest guys in the world, but they didn't dive. I have heard the theory advanced, on The History of Football I think, that northern European countries developed less diving because of their players' larger size and emphasis on physical power; whereas southern European teams (I'm pointing at you Portugal) developed a game of trickery, but also involving diving as a legitimate tactic.

Now, albeit, with football globalisation, the traditions have been mixed, but nonetheless, traditions of fair play still persist in countries like England (I know it's getting very rare, but thats what you get when you make the emphasis on winning, i.e. money).

But my point is this: Turkey were quite small compared to the Germans, but they used skill, a huge array of skill, to attack and dribble at close proximity to the Germans. They used trickery, but without simulated falls. I watched at two complete games, the Croatia game and the Germany game, and half of the Czech Republic game, so you can't rebutt me on this fact.

I hope Turkey challenge for the World Cup. My beloved South Africa are woefully poor, and while I have hope that west Africa shall give us all hope, I shall keep an eye on Turkey over the next two years.

absolute rubbish !!! Terim is a master motivator, probably the best there is in Football, and that to me is the cornerstone of any great manager... thin veiled attempt to get at what the Turks have achieved at this tournament.
