On the OS :

Everton manager David Moyes has slammed reports linking Andrew Johnson with a move from Goodison Park - insisting the striker is not for sale.

There has been growing speculation surrounding the England international, with media reports on Friday suggesting a group of six clubs were circling the former Crystal Palace hitman.

But Moyes has made it clear he has no intention of off-loading the £8.6m man - making it clear Johnson remains a key part of his plans.

Moyes told evertonfc.com: "Andy Johnson is not for sale - it is that simple. He is a highly-valued member of my senior squad and I look forward to seeing him when the players report back for pre-season training."

Quicker AJ goes and Davie can use the money on someone who looks like a top striker, which is what we need, the better. Milito is genuine quality and has the Argie steel with it. Moutinho would prove a great buy too if we can somehow snare him. Podolski?

The difference between this season and 2005 is we haven't realy gone for anyone, Ramsey apart, so we're not as yet being "snubbed". In 2005 players were clear in their thinking we'd slip back to the bottom 1/r of the table. they were wrong, and we're doing fine without them.

I dont think there can be any argument about AJ's commitment, but his goalscoring record HAS benn suspect...there is no getting away from that fact.

What I do think, is that he is told to run the channels after hopeless long balls. Given a bit of quality service in the 18 yard box, he would score more, im sure of it.

So, in essence, we could happily keep him, supply him, and then, if his goal return doesnt improve with better service, thank him and let him go in favour of a better finisher!

This is madness....
AJ MUST STAY! AJ is perhaps one of the finest examples of a professional footballer I have ever seen. He was terribly unlucky last season, what with the parade of penalties rejected (some criminally blatant) and disallowed goals.
We have 4 strikers at the club at present, Yakubu is mint of course, but what happens when his enthusiasm runs dry? Vaughan is an awesome young player, but is practically a permanent fixture on the injury table and with the serious knee injuries he's sustained it must be considered that he might not fulfill his potential. Anichebe is keen, but frankly I don't think he has the quality to make it as top class premier league centre forward. I'd love him to prove me wrong, but I feel he may end up in the lower half of the premier league or maybe even the championship.
All told it shows just how vital AJ is to us.I can see no benefit in cashing in £10m for AJ only to spend all, if not more, on some waste of space replacement like Darren Bent.
We need to add another striker to our ranks - and not at the expense of such as classy member of the team.

Baffled! The lad is good, plus with nobody of the same calibre lined up, selling him would be a major minus for a club supposedly challenging the Big 4.
