Forecast Federers performance today?

OK, he's got a match today that he shouldn't lose if he plays it every day for a year so how's he going to approach it?

1. At half pace, dumpy returns and let the guy lose it?
2. Loose; win but make lots of errors?
3. Hammer him?

Not sure if Federer can do anything today to cheer me up. Even if he whacks him it'll feel like doing Antic at RG the other week, just easy and no test.
If he does a "Soderling" and just lazily lets the guy beat himself it'll be uninspiring. My money is that he'll do one of those and trundle through it.

A few years ago it wouldn't have mattered, but many of us are searching for indicators as to his true state, myself suspecting he's concealing his fitness problems. Frustratingly I don't see us getting any new information today. That doesn't mean bad news necessarily, just means we'll be as much in the dark as now.

Anyone else feel the same way?

No technical way around it - just that the BBC live broadband deals are agreed for UK rights only.

I hope our live text updates from Ben, Tom, Caroline etc are at least some compensation for the lack of pictures wherever you happen to be in the world.

"Can anyone clear up why Tipsarevic wears those plastic lab glasses? Is it a fashion gesture or something else, someone told me he was the 'philosopher' of men's tennis is it connected?"

Going out on a limb here but i think he might be short-sighted.

evilspindoctor:the water in MonteCarlo harbour has more protein in it than a T bone steak. no wonder it was so expensive. Mind you it is a mix of other people's protein.

Tipsy has a Uni degree and loves classical literature. A tattoo on his arm is a quote from a Russian philosopher (I think im right in saying)

Not sure if his glasses have anything to do with that though

Speaking as a specs wearer I would suggest they may well be designed so as not to slip whilst he is playing.(persperation and all that) a thought

Wow, these two are just going thru the motions like the result was a foregone conclusion. Maybe Gicquel could give it a bit more.

Krisblaugranes but who is Fed playing? I never heard of this guy. Again, Fed advances my playing non name players. PRetty easy!!

Also SAD for it shows you how he won so many GS before Nadal and Joko came around. The man didnt have any competition at all. He knows that and he is ashame of it. Borg, Sampras, Connors they all did it the hard way and beating the very best. SAme way Raffa is doing it. Raffa is only 22 and by this age Fed was almost not where to be found. Maybe one GS and still not competition?
