Fact is Germany has not won anything in 12 years, Since than France has won twice, Italy, Greece etc have all won. Germans did get a massive scheduling break in 2002; and in 2006 they were at home. They also were beneficiary of being in the right half of the bracket inn this cup. Their QF win over Portugal was the only win against a perceived contender since they won back in 1996

What I don't understand (and really narks me)is that you get that type of statement from the media and lots of fans here. Will we never learn not to count our chickens etc.? Why do we have such an appetite for humble pie?

Tell me, where was the passion in the Russian players, in the second half?None of them ran or made half the effort as in their quarter-final match.Why is that so?

Fatigue perhaps they are only human they put a lot of effort into previous matches. Winning a tournament and playing so many games so close together must be as much about stamina as it is about anything else.

Hope Spain win, Spanish football more attacking than that of Italy or Greece the last two major tournament winners

Totally agree with you there, the premiership glorification on display from the commentators last night was about the worst it has been so far. Don't know why really but it really bugged me last night, have they no other insights into the game other than to cream themselves over the guys who play in england? I mean, fair enough fabregas was excellent when he came on and set up 2 goals but you have to mention puyol, xavi, senna, iniesta and most of all ramos in the same light because they were outstanding! And the mutterings about the pass for silvas goal, i mean come on, it was a decent pass but the through ball by iniesta was even better and silva still had a hell of a lot to do! Its been pathetic really at times as they only seem to heap unbegrudging praise on those guys playing in England.

Good point.

But to be fair, Iniesta's best moment was that. He lost possession thrice (to be exact), wasted lot more passes than fabregas, his shot became a lucky cross for Xavi to score, and not to mention, Fabregas gave the license to Xavi to go forward. I heard after the goal, Xavi went to him, and says in spanish something like, "screw you kid". Queer! Fabregas made lot of good passes to Torres who was simply wasteful. That sublime and well measured chip for Guiza And, the pass to Silva is top class, because a lot of young players like Benzema, Messi, etc would have had a pop at goal. Lot of maturity on young shoulders me thinks. I say Madrid should sign the kid. He'll be a permanent solution to our Guti role

torres did nothing in the match and has been virtually non existent since his suberb finish against sweden
i dont know y the commentators keep biggin him up jus coz he plays in the prem... it really hacks me off too

fabregas was awesome (as usual) and i still cant see why he isnt starting every match for spain... can aragones not see his input to the team??? has cesc ot "proved" himself as one of the best midfielders in europe yet???

Fabregas is a good player but he will be stopped by the German defense. I see Klose and Sweinsteiger penetrating Spain's back four. It will be close but Germany will be champions. Extra time victory 1-0.

Is anyone else pleased that there'll be no Nike in Sunday's final? It's almost as if the soccer gods have a hand in this. The home of Adidas, i read somewhere that the company has Swiss roots, be it german heritage as in Austria, and Nike teams are sent packing.

Fabregas has played well but if Alan Hansen hadn't told him so I doubt that the author of this article would have noticed. Knows nothing about football as clearly demonstrated by his knowledge of how England celebrate European Championships on another article.
