Goodbye Captain Collingwood

One-day internationals England
comment on the article

I do understand Collingwood's reasons for his decision. This is a totally Professional game now, big money, world rankings at stake etc. Would also have 'got it in the neck' from Moores and the management team etc. But it was still wrong. I like Collingwood. He is a gutsy Northerner, totally honest, in bad form, but a fighter. And I feel sorry for him. Because he should now be sacked. Not quietly, but puublicly, to show that he got it wrong. On the field he is the chief, the top dog, the CEO. And he therefore must 'carry the can'. So Goodbye Paul Collingwood. But beyond that, it is the ICCB [ or whatever they are called these days] who are to blame. This is not the first time this has happened. I can remember England fast bowler John Snow being banned for 3 matches back in 1964, I think, for bundling over a Pakistani [ may have been Gavaskar], although it wasn't called 'banned' or 'suspended' in those days, but just 'dropped' ! Everything has to be nailed down these days. 'What is the procedure in that sort of a case '? Who has the 'right of way' ? what must happen if......?? The days of the old 'Spirit of the Game' went out of the window when the players first welcomed the big-money into this game, and the old 'unwritten laws' should be consigned to history. Sorry, but it will have to happen. And I'm an Englishman !!

Me beyond help - that's rich coming from you.

You accused me of being an American and therefore not knowing anything about cricket. You were wrong on both counts. You accused me of having an American education. You were wrong again. You accused me of "using American lanuage" You were wrong again.
I therefore believe it's you that might need help but I'm not prepared to do it - life's too short.

You did use American so it was a logical assumption to think you were American.

You aren't even able to see where.

Thankyou Reverand

It all comes through being an Englishman with a French keyboard.

By the way "one mistimed shot and the score is 10 for two" Could not the other batsman be Run Out, Bowled, LBW etc?

Sorry Reverend - you see the 'e' is next to the 'a' and the 'e' 'r' 't' are next to one another too.
