Thursday's gossip column

comment on the article
Peter Crouch

It appears Peter Crouch is a wanted man.

First Portsmouth and now north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are both reportedly after the 6ft 7in Liverpool striker. Will any of them stump up the £15m that the Anfield club are after?

Spurs also want Crouch's Liverpool team-mate Yossi Benayoun as part of a £15m deal according to one tabloid, while Arsenal are courting Euro 2008 flop Mario Gomez and Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz.

Arsenal fans, would you be happy to see any of these strikers replace Emmanuel Adebayor? According to an Italian agent by the name of Vincenzo Morabito, the Togo striker is "70-80%" likely to join AC Milan.

Wigan are close to signing South American footballer of the year Salvador Cabanas. Does anyone know much about the Paraguay striker? If so, will he be a hit in the Premier League?

There's all this and more in today's gossip column so if you support Arsenal or Accrington Stanley, who do you want your team to sign this summer?

The ronaldo to turn up for training thing did amuse me a bit.

I expect a full analysis from the Sun as to who will be attending training in the coming week. Its not fair to only pass on this vital informaion regarding one player.

Apparently - and I dont wanna go out on a limb here - even some of the coaches are gonna be there too! Unbelievable. Its as if our club is pioneering new techniques!! We'll probably train all season in between games aswell!

Peter Crouch to Arsenal! WTH! is this a joke? what's Wenger thinking? I'd take Eduardo, Aquilani, Santa Cruz, Veloso, Gomez, Eto'o, Vela, Walcott, Adebayor and even Bendtner over crouch everytime.

Heres a thought. An out of sorts striker who has premiership experience but wouldn't cost man utd squillions-Thierry Henry!!
--------
if henry goes back to any english club except arsenal i will pay you £50.!! I will track you down and pay you! because he has always said he would never play in the PL for anyone other than arsenal. he may be a little traitor after running to barca where he failed miserably, but hes not a backstabber!!
-----------------

Happy Matt.

Henry has on more than one occasion stated that the Best away club & supporters he has ever experienced is LFC & Anfield, for me, a fit Henry would be ideal for LFC,
He even stated this about two weeks ago, when being interviewed as part of the France squad.
i dont think he would go back to Arsenal, but he is trying to get Rafa's attention.
When you sold him, he was carrying injuries, which Barca were aware of, he went there to try and recoup, but was played too early.
I think apart from having the injuries he had, if he is now recovered, he is definetly worth looking at for most clubs in the EPL

Pity your skint!

The injuries he has had all relate to a back complaint which tend to generally continue to deteriorate and given the way Henry plays he is probably not a week in week out striker anymore. Although that would suit Rafa wouldnt it!

Cabanas for Wigan?......
A very good player, looks far too overweight to be even playing football and has a super lack of height....However, his positional sense is second to none and he is both footed. All in all a very good signing for wigan as I know Man Utd had also sent scouts to watch him play for America of Mexico.

For my own team (Portsmouth FC) I would like to see Zhirkov in the left back position and Pavel Povgrebnyak of Zenit St Petersburg to lead the line with Defoe, Povgreb (in Russian=Cellar), is both footed, a brilliant free kick taker from distance and has huge post-player ability. He incidently was the top scorer in this years UEFA Cup with 10 goals.
