Twenty/20 Cricket

Twenty20 England

I think Twenty/20 cricket is a breath of fresh air for the conventional game. I know some people might think it's ruining test cricket, but I'm all for it. At the moment, at least. It could take over test cricket eventually, but let's cross that bridge when we come to it. At the moment, let's enjoy the boundary-hitting slogfest!

I don't know how long you've been watching Twenty20, GlamCCC, but I've watched it from its inception.

I used to enjoy watching but, somehow, this year it just seems to be a bit of a bore. The bowler bowls and the batsman tries to slog. That's it.

Maybe it's me, but I do wonder if the novelty is beginning to wear off for others too.

It'll be interesting to see the attendence figures when they're collated at the end of the Twenty20 tournament. Potentially this year's tournament could have suffered from the clash with Euro 2008. England's absence in that tournament means the cricket wouldn't have been robbed of spectators choosing football over cricket. Also the weather has been pretty good with not too many cancelled matches. A drop in spectator numbers could suggest the viewing public is having a bit too much 20-20 in this country.

In India it's different. People will go to one-day cricket because it is a dominant activity. Spectator figures are pretty much guaranteed.
