Casey unhappy with Donington boos

Moto GP
comment on the article

Casey Stoner has hit out after being booed and having obscene gestures made at him by sections of the crowd after Sunday's win at Donington.

"What do they want? Are they here to watch racing? It's not the right way to come to a race track," he said.

"It's nice to see people here in good numbers but not if they're here for the wrong reasons."

He also said it was not the first time it had happened, and it had discouraged him from taking part in events such as the Riders for Health auction in future.

Were you at Donington? Did you hear or see anything? Do you think this behaviour is out of order, or is he just being too thin-skinned and that he should get over it?

Your thoughts and observations please...

So how do you explain Biaggi and Gibernau then fairbrit...they didn't speak english. I don't agree with that. His personality is just a lot more amiable than Stoner's end of. He smiles, he celebrates, he is enthusiastic. That translates in all languages.

"He smiles, he celebrates, he is enthusiastic."

Not last year!. Didn't even speak to the press at all in Laguna or Brno.

Would have to say this year in his favour, that he has been much more amiable in defeat than last which in turn seems to be improving relations between the top riders no end.

Hopefully his fans will soon follow suit,

............but I'm not holding my breath!

He still smiled last year, yes he was pissed off but he was still himself. He definitely didn't graon if he came third and got onto the podium unlike Mr Stoner! As for his fans, I can only speak for myself and I'm smiling as long as moto gp is on and there is a good battle, regardless of who wins...

If a British rider had just won the race at Phillip Island in the same fashion he would have got exactly the same response. I was booing at home at the overall dullness of the race.

Why would you say that? Is this true?? So your saying this is an English v Aussie thing and nothing to do with racing??
Bayliss/Corser both Australian riders who have won on british soil, never got booed....

Nah, that dont make any sense.

How can people say that the Race was Dull. Pedrosa and Rossi battling was absolutely fantastic. Think people who booed him at the Health for Riders event are out of order. These Riders dont have to give up there own time so its brill that they do. What Casey Stoner should do is look at all the decent supporters who applauded him when he did win and ignore the minority. Anyway Assen looks like it could be a good un.

In all the interviews I have seen with Casey Stoner he came across as a pretty decent guy. I am sure that all the Brits wanted James Toseland to win but that was not to be and on the day the best rider won hands down. Casey Stoner is a phenomenal talent and should really take no noticed of the minority of idiots booing him. The best response is to go ahead and win races. Best of luck for the rest of the season Casey.

Its a pity to hear comments like that, a few muppets who dont know what a great talent this young man has. He has just got to remember that real moto gp fans recognise talent what their nationality.

i was at donington and i agree it is not really fair to be booing one of the racers but to be honest i dont think casey does himself any favours - he comes across as someone who has no personality to me, yes he can ride the ducati like no one else adn he rides darn well, but what about personality?? i like a rider who can ride adn has personality, as a matter of fact i like riders who do less well but have more personality - riders who can have a laugh, a joke, smile and wave at camera even if they are losing, riders with more than "one dimension", its not just about riding well its about having the whole package, bayliss is ace, melandri is ace, corser is ace, guy martin is ace, Vale is amazing and so to me i think the reason unfortunately that people dont like casey is not because he rides so well but because there is nothing else to him except riding and that is boring unfortunately dani pedrosa seems to have the same personality - boring!!
