England left out of the Champions League

Pathetic BCCI have thrown out England from the Champions League Twenty/20 tournament to be held in September\October. The reason? It is is because of the ECB's policy of allowing counties to include ICL players. This is plainly bullying tactics by the BCCI dictating the cricket world as they see fit. If such discrimination agaist ICL players continues I can only see this heading to the courts and a severe dressing down and humiliation for the BCCI.

The important thing to remember here is that the players involved signed their ICL and Kent contracts before they realised the tournament would be vilified in such a way and before all the regulations banning them from appearing in other competitions. So what the champions league has done is a form of retroactive legislation. It is unfair and shameless bullying from the money men. It is also illegal, Kent should take them to an international court and then see how quickly they pack down!

Sadly, I don't think that anyone in the ICC / other particiapnts in this Champions League have the guts to stand up to the BCCI.

We are alas in a situation where money is doing all the talking and I fear that, as with soccer, the game will be ruined by the current obsession with pursuing the dollar over the spirit of the game. I for one am sick and tired of the hypocricy of the sport's administrators.

And as for the IPL v ICL, how convenient for the IPL / BCCI to "forget" that the ICL came into being when the BCCI weren't interested in 20/20 as proved when they allowed all their stars to not bother with the unimportant World 20/20 in South Africa because of its lack of worth.

Funny how financial worth changed their minds .......

Twenty 20 is going down a dark dark road here. I do agree that Kent broke the rules and in once sense it is their own fault. If they do in England unlike Australia and you continue to play foreign players it will have a detremental affect in some way. How many players who will play in next years Ashes have 'warmed up' in England for various county's?

However I also believe that cricket is in danger here, danger of becoming hit by the black market betting because the stakes are so high. If it can affect test cricket why not the big bucks of twenty 20?
And the bullying power-mad bosses who think purely of corporate greed then fandom. It's a slippery slope and one that could soon be completely out of control.

Not happy at all about this.

As for Kent's CEO saying that we have to accept. Do we heck!

Modi, doesn't give a damn about anything else apart from the ridiculous amounts of Rupees that he can make. The ECB should have made it clear that it was either all in, or all out, not this pathetic half-measure, which seems typical of the paymasters that run sport in this country. We're either equal partners or we're not.

I just hope the ICL come up with something that can compensate for Kent being banned because that egotistical meglomaniac.

And if neccesary, Kent should threaten the ECB, that they will have nothing to do with 20/20 and threaten to join the ICL, at least then we'd have the development done at St Lawrence, without too much further of a delay.

That'll make the ECB and Modi, think.

england no longer deserve to rule world cricket anymore, they have a stream of poor results and no longer dominate in any form of the game whereas india are a force in 20-20 and oneday cricket but the world cricket scene will split at the rate that it is with england and the bangladesh stuck in the middle

Oh dear me nottscccbryant.

At what point did any of this become about England wanting to rule World cricket?

Yes there was a time many years ago where ECB/MCC were top dogs in the World administration pecking order but it would take a very crusty gin swilling MCC dodderer to argue that this is still the case. The ICC has for quite some time been run by Asian bloc countries and with an Indian president (who is also the president of the BCCI) I think we know who really runs World cricket.

Oh wonderful!!! Just read about how the BCCI have stuffed things up again! The side they have invited from Pakistan (their domestic champs) have TWO ICL players (Rana Naved and Imran Nazir) so apparently it is
"Cricket Australia, the Champions League rule-makers, and Modi will now have to decide whether to ban Sialko" - so they ban Kent from appearing than invite a team who they seem to not know anything about? So if Pakistan champs are ruled out (as surely they have to be to keep the integrity of this competition or else face accusations of favouritism and unfairly picking on kent and the ECB) than who else could they invite? Not WI, as the Stanford team will not be verified probably, SL don't even have a T20 comp AFAIK. NZ? Do they have a domestic T20 comp?? this is turning (quite rightly) into an absolute FARCE of the greatest proportions
