Does Mourinho really want Lamps and Drogba?

Premier League Chelsea

Apparently Jose Mourinho has confirmed he wants to sign Drogba and Lampard, and Deco. That's if you read the headlines. If you actually read his comments he says he'd never say no to those players if they were offered to him, but he's not obsessed with the idea of signing them.

This makes perfect sense - one of the main reasons Mourinho was annoyed at the signings of Ballack and Shevchenko at Chelsea was, apart from not being his choice, not part of his policy - Mourinho likes buying players who will make their name under him, and preferably younger guys than any three of thse players linked with Inter.

It would be a wrong move for Lamps - the language barrier, new style of football at his age wouldn't suit. A move to Spain would make more sense, what with his wife's Spanish connections. It appears Lamps is more interested in a long contract and he deserves one at Chelsea, although he may have to be prepared for a younger challenger to get more of a look in next season.

Drogba probably would do well in the Italian league - but another change of country/language might write off a season to adapt to the lifestyle again - he'd be better off going to Barcelona to play alongside Thierry Henry. He's done a great job for Chelsea but hasn't made a secret of his lack of loyalty - i think most fans would say they're happy either way if he stays or goes, as long as a suitable replacement is brought in (and the likes of Sheva and Pizzarro join him through the exit).

Fernando Torres or Luca Toni would be the ideal frontmen for Chelsea but it just won't happen - Berbatov or Eto'o seem more realistic. Getting both would be a real coup. Berbatov on his own might be a bit unfruitful - we all know how moody he can be, laying alongside Anelka would just not work!! Maybe Scolari has ideas from the Euros - Pavleychenko and Arshavin look pretty useful....

As much as i like Drogba and Lampard if they want to go then GO! I rather have players who want to play for Chelsea then players we don't.

There both getting on in there careers and they have one last "BIG" move left in them.

It won't make a massive difference to us whether they stay or go.

Last season we had to make do without so many goals from Drogs due to the African Cup and injury. We still had an excellent chance to win the Champions League and the EPL.

We have more quality midfielders at the club than you can shake a stick at. With a first choice central midfield of Ballack and Essien we'll be at least as effective as last season.

If the squad got us to the position we finished in at the end of the season (also rans but damn close) under Avram (nice but not the real deal) Grant then I hardly think we need be concerned about Scolari's retirement plans!

"Chelski wont finish in the top 3 next season"

ha! what planet are you mate?

I would hate to see Drogba go but Im not so concerned about the departure of lamps. Not many other Chelsea fans admit this but he gives the ball away more the any other player! I have a season ticket at the bridge so Im not just watching the highlights on MotD, I see the whole game. lamps is not the player he used to be so let him go.

Mourinho should know Chelsea has no reason to sell a big star like Lampard who scored more goals than the other players of Chelsea in the last season.
And a dought Frank Lampard prefers Mourinho to a good manager like Escolari.
