What a load of rubbish I'm sorry but Goosen is just jealous that woods is so much better than him and that he pulled off an absolutely incredible win and Goosen came 14th. Even if woods wasn't injured which it's clear he was then having not played a full 18 before the US open and then winning having played 91 holes is just as incredible. I hope woods keeps on winning majors and destroying Goosen hopefully that will shut the has been up.

Agree with pretty much everything on here. I think golfers in the main handle themselves with real dignity and class (I wish other sports were the same). I am really surprised that Goosen would make thes "accusations" even if deep down he believed them. It is clear now that the injury was and is serious, and I trust that Goosen will apologise personally to Tiger. All he has done is to ridicule himself, not a smart move. As for Tiger, one can only applaud his determination to win and not to let his home fans down be pulling out. Pure class in every sense of the word.

I have myself played with a dodgy ankle so I can understand how sometimes it is fine and somtime you feel like it has been hit with a sledge hammer. I watched the open and I have to say that several times when Tiger hit a ball he spent a few seconds looking at where the ball was going before grimacing in pain and when he knocked in his 65 foot eagle putt on Saturday his fist pumping and charging across the green didn't seem in the slightest inhibited, so it is certainly understandable why people that post on this board would ask the question was the knee really that painful. But for another golfer to question the extent of Tigers injury is just plain stupid. What did Goosen think would happen. Tiger was going to turn around and say you know what the Goose got me, it wasn't that bad I was just looking for some sympathy from the crowd and if I lost well I was just going to blame the knee anyway.

I can guarintee you one think if Tiger had lost the playoff he would not have blamed his knee. He would have just said that Rocco played better golf and deserved to win. If a reporter asked him directly if the knee had cost him the open he would have just said well it didn't help and moved on to the next question. Once the full extent of his injuries came out well the Media would have blamed the knee on Tiger not winning so Tiger didn't need to say a word.

I don't think I would quite put this performance up there with Hogan winning the US Open after his car crash but it was in the same league. I also have to say i don't think anyone else in the game would have played with the injuries because I don't think anyone except tiger was capable of winning with those injuries.

Tiger Woods will still be ahead of Retief in the rankings even if he took 3 years off on the mend.....enough said I guess!! Oh, RG should concentrate on his own "game" or whatever he calls it these days and realise he's an insignificant speck within a vast creation of golfing talent.

Does anybody know what happens the world rankings with Tiger out for the rest of the year... I assume his points will gradually deminish because it based on a rolling 2 years with the more recent performances weighted heavier, though he is so far ahead at the moment he will probably keep the number one ranking for at least 4 or 5 months.

Good grief, Goosen ! Now you're better with your mouth than your hands.
Why can't sportsmen leave their mean-spiritedness on the playing field, and put up some semblence of civility off it ? In this particular case, I hope his remarks have nothing to do with where he comes from. I mean I can understand the jealousy - who wouldn't be, faced with the immense talent and equally immense luck that Tiger seems to possess.I can't understand the churlish remarks from a fellow competitor, though.Give credit where it's due.South Africa only in recent memory discarded apartheid.Don't go back there.

For good reason Goosen is known as the most inarticulate pro golfer in the universe, perhaps the lightning strike he experienced also damaged his sense of decency and fair play.

Sorry, but I have always suspected that Woods does exaggerate - watch him when he is in a bunker and he gets sand in his face!!! Anyone would think that someone has put pepperspray in his eyes - he loves ithe attention. Do not get me wrong - he is obviously injured but needs to stop hamming it up!!! I know what Goosen means - maybe he was taken out of context - in the media, very likely!!!

There will always be people like that in life who have a warped sense of reality! Tiger Woods produced probably the most impressive victory of his career in the US Open and he will forever be remembered for it. The man was clearly in pain, most other pro's would have withdrawn and Woods is most certainly not a glory hunter, he is quite simply super human and awe inspiring.

It will make interesting viewing the next time Goosen & Woods are paired together in an event. You can bet the pairings committee at the USPGA would have fiddled it that way. If Woods sneezes, Goosen probably won't say 'bless you' cos Tiger could be faking a cold!! Old Goose has made a right fool of himself..doh
