United sign Shala and McGovern

Scottish Premier Dundee United
comment on the article

Dundee United manager Craig Levein has signed German striker Andis Shala and former Celtic reserve goalkeeper Michael McGovern.

What does everybody thinks of these signings ??

Anybody know if the goalie is any good ?

Levein was really keen on Shala so must be a decent prosepect tho !

Saints fan here- what are you Arabs doing? Seems you have given us a decent player in MacLean, and replaced him with a dud. I saw McGovern play for Saints at Gretna 2 seasons ago- and he was the reason we got stuffed. No communication with back 4, hopeless under a high ball, and clueless as to where his own posts were. Not a great aquistion, but cheers for MacLean!!

st200, why do saints seem to have keepers on loan all the time? Can't they sign one for real?

Ok did you not think your defenders may have been pash? Also you said yourself he came on emergency loan and played 1 game. How is the Goalkeeper supposed to communicate with defenders he doesn't know and hasn't spent anytime knowing? Personnaly I have slightly more faith in the Celtic youth system than the Sainties back four. Although don't you worry if theres one man in Scotland who can get the best out a young player its Tangerine Levein

A strong Dundee United is good for Scottish football and is good to see a young Scottish kid get a chance at a good club, so I say all the best to you!

Think it's great to add young talent to an ever growing and impressive squad. Levein's done brilliant for us, let's hope his choice in the 2 lads are the right ones. We need another decent striker to play up with Noel Hunt. Let's hope we can get the money now to bring Willo Flood back for good!

luggy4ever. At least if players come to teams like St.Johnstone on loan and they are guff then unlike the oldfirm who snap up decent scottish talent and they are paid xgrand for doing nothing but sitting on the beanch getting splinters in ther backside or they are in teh stands. With loanees then if they are guff then yuo can send them back to their feeder club who pick up the wages for them to do nothing.

Which Old Firm players are sitting in the stand?

Ranger :

If Broadfoot is not playing then Whittaker is.

Thomson is a regular in midfield.

Naismith played his part before getting injured. Boyd played his part.
so who?

It will take Shala time to adjust to the game but by all reports, he fitted in really well with the lads during training and all were impressed. If he "greatly impresses" our leader then he must be a talent with great prospects.
Mark my words - this lad will be a cult star with the Arab faithful. "Shalala-lala-lala-la, Andis Shala is Tangerine! All together now!" cheers
