FIFA take no action with Madrid

Manchester United
comment on the article

Fifa will take no formal action against Real Madrid following Manchester United's recent complaint regarding Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reminder

The statement read: "We can confirm that we received last week a formal complaint from Manchester United related to the player Cristiano Ronaldo and the club Real Madrid. From the documentation received, no breach of contract appears to have occurred yet.

"Therefore, in accordance with the applicable practice, no kind of formal procedure has been opened by Fifa regarding this matter.

"The Spanish Football Federation has been informed of the complaint lodged by the English club and been asked to remind its member club Real Madrid about the potential legal consequences of a breach of contract without just cause during the protected period and of a possible inducement to such a breach of contract, as established by the Fifa Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players."

Meanwhile, Real striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believes his former United team-mate is now a 'complete' player.

Great person

Van Nistelrooy, who is focusing on Holland's bid to win Euro 2008, said of Real's bid to sign Ronaldo: "I'm not really thinking of it as you can imagine in this moment of time.

"I leave it up to the clubs and to the player involved in that sense. I will wait and see what happens.

"I think everybody knows what kind of player he is and how he developed himself as one of the best players in the world in this moment.

"At his age, he's complete. He's a great player and a great person."

Anyone suprised? I know I' not. Never did we have any chance of them getting actioned against no matter what they did, because they're Madrid & we're dealing with FIFA.

And what is it with RVN praising Ronaldo? Great person? Is this the same person you had a major bust up with and was a huge unfluence in you leaving the club?

He mentioned a bit more last night according to an interview in the link

Q Aren't you scared of Ferguson's reaction?
A Its my decision, not important if he gets angry. It's what I really wish for. After we'll see how it turns out.

Q Do you think MU will let you go?
A Its will be difficult, not my decision. Lots of people involved. It's sure that the negotiations will be profitable on both sides...

There a a few more enlightening answers too, but I’m let you get out your French dictionaries!!

Just to show he’s being a lot more open than what’s being reported. Good riddance to a rotten if entertaining apple.

Ronaldo's refusal to state his position has only fuelled the media fire.
The wider debate is about the unnacceptability of this kind of behaviour all round and Utd are no Angles in this regard.
Berbatov (not helped by his agent mind you) had his head turned in January by Utd.
Bayern Munich weren't impressed with the way Man Utd went about getting Hargreaves.
However all clubs are guilty in one way or another and some kind of action should be taken to prevent players under contract being approached in this way.
However FIFA seem somewhat toothless and their response to Utd's complaint was very disappointing.
Did they really try to establish the facts or were they undone by the fact that it was perhaps agents at work who simply covered their trail.
As far as Ronaldo is concerned Man Utd have invested in the player and he is what is with Utd's help and whilst loyalty is a thing of the past he should have a degree of honour which should see him stay at Utd.
I also don't think that Utd are a one-man team and if Ronaldo went it would inconvenient rather than a disaster.
Many people thought that Arsenal would struggle post Henry and for three quarters of the season they didn't.

For someone with the name "Wum", you don't act like it! Yes, it is true that he has been great for us, and if he goes we'll never forget what he has done. But I think that the majority of us are just sick with the way that he has treated United. His "holier than thou" attitude is just pathetic. Case and point, Torres. Speculation grows over his future and he immediately says that he wants to continue at Liverpool. Speculations grows over Ronaldo's future and he thinks "Hang on, I'm in the spotlight. Yay!!!".

He wants to go to his dream club, it has nothing about quality. Two great teams to chose, but his heart lies elsewhere. But he could've had the decency, nothing to do with guts, to admit it when he had the chance.

---------------------------

I don't think he has treated ManU that badly. Think about it. He could have gone away after the World Cup but decided to stay and prove a point. And his performance since then has been phenomenal. Moreover I don't think that he is that selfish or arrogant. If you score that many goals it's obvious that he is the centre of attention.

And if he says now he had decided before the CL finale I think one has to applaud his team thinking. What would have happened had he said it right before the Moscow final? He chose to wait because he respects ManU and Portugal. But well, I think you can always look at everything from a couple of angles. Of course, you could question his loyalty. But that discussion is a bit academic in my opinion. He is a boy from humble upbringings and plays football as a job and wants to earn as much money as possible. And he has never lied about the fact that he wants to go to Spain and join Real Madrid.

Mummy not feed you this morning?

I guess your refering to the Rooney incident, where the referee sent of Rooney for stamping on Carvalho's privates? Whether or not it was deliberate, the ref saw it that way and therefore had to produce a red.

So you're jealous of United and hate us then, it's people like you that make our success even more satisfying smiley

Yes, he did stay after the World Cup. But it was to prove a point to everyone except the United fans at Old Trafford, because the times I was at OT afterwards the United fans were doing nothing other than support him. Might've been different some other times but from what I saw he was being protected from the opposition's jeerers by us.

He wants to go, fair enough, and some United fans booed him after the World Cup. But most of us treated him with respect and all that we want is a little back.

Like you said, it's all about which angle you look at it, I could be wrong.

I'm a Man United fan and I have to say it's all very similar to the pursuit of Owen Hargreaves. United did the same thing.

Hi I think its best he goes however way he should be sold. of course you can't take it away from him, he is a very talented player but that is no right to be disloyal to the fans. its not just Ronaldo, many others like him should know that soccer is not all about them, but its about his team mates who worked so hard to pass the balls to him to get those goals and the fans who kept cheering him up week in and week out even at the time he was not playing his best. He is a brilliant player but have you noticed he is not so good with portugal. i can't bet my money on it he won't be as good at real as he was at Man U watch this space. and if he goes alot will be expected of him at real and those supportes are not as loyal as we have been. i hope Fergie lets him go soonest, we will miss him but mark my words we will be even be better without him

The whole affair is #$%&#$ me off. Ronaldo and his will I won't I. Calderon and RM for their attitude that they are bigger than any other club in the world. (What have they won lately in Europe). Then there's Blatter a worn out old fool acting like some general from the SS who should keep his opinions to himself retire and exile himself to Baghdad for example.
