The ref also sent one of our players off wrongly. Swings and roundabouts.

Russia's goal was scored with one of their players out of play, surely offside by France's/UEFA's rules?

Italy are now being punished for beating UEFA's team in the 2006 final!

I don't see it that way Di Panna, u still have the chance to redeem yourself by beating France. dishing out punishment yourself, thats all u have to do! what I do hear is, you don't belief in your team?

Its ironic that Italy won the world cup largely by playing a good last ten mins vs Germany - the rest was mediocre at best

what goes round comes round, I say - look how many times decisions went their way in the past

and is it only me, but I thought Del Piero was offside for Ital's equaliser vs Romania . . .

To be honest I think Italy will be eliminated as I feel France will want to get some revenge for their loss at the last world cup. So if Italy lose then they are out what ever the result of the Romainia V Netherlands match is, but could it mean France can qualify for the 2nd round ?

Oh well...do you remember Korea? 2 good goals disallowed and a couple of penalty not given (there was more in the previous match too...), I even remember the name of the referee: Moreno, which has been barred for life (a referee who had a history of being too keen on the host side and who didn't have enough credentials to be there in a world championship.
About luck, again, do you remember France v Italy European final? Italy wasn't lucky at all...oh, what about losing that final against Brasil on penalties? Even that infamous final lost 4 - 1 against Brasil in 1970...many forgot that Italy played a gruesome battle against Germany (4-3 extra time) a couple of days before, and were too tired to face the final (Brasil had a more favourable calendar.

Fact is that here in the UK you are jealous of Italy's achievements and prefer to give the credits to lady luck...keep going.

It's very sad to see so many comments about Italy's "luck".
It's ludicrous:
Tony had a good goal disallowed against Romania...Van Nilsteroy was offside when he scored against Italy - mind you, the first goal is always the most important in a match and detemines the rest of the game...in fact the other 2 goals were counter attacking goals.
The penalty given against Italy is still debatable...yet Romania didn't took the chance...Italy is lucky because they are still in the game?!
What would it be if Van Nilsteroy's goal was rightly ruled out and if Tony's goal was justly allowed?

Check that out...
I still feel Italy won't make it this time...and on the whole I'm not that disappointed about their performance except that they weren't really in the pitch against Holand.
Better "luck" the next time.

Italy were the better team against Germany for 120 minutes. We hit the woodwork twice before scoring. We won the competition, get over it.

Di Panna...it's a common problem with the UK...it's called Green Envy. It makes them blind.
They always cry about the supposed good luck of the Italian team...yet, remember 1966? England won because of a ghost goal against Germany....and yes they won on their own ground too (we won there in Germany!).
Fact: England partecipate only on one world cup final and they won it! (that's 100% record = lucky).
Italy won the world cup 4 times and lost 2 finals...that makes 66% = not as lucky as England).

In fact does anyone remember how lucky was England in Italy? Camerun and Spain were giving them football lessons, yet they managed to get to the semis...that's luck.

Unfortunately Italy do require luck tonight. Romania must either draw or lose to what's likely to be a reserve Dutch squad.
The good news? A scoredraw throughout the group means Italy go through and not France!

Whatever happens, we'll still have 4 stars on our shirt at the end of it.
