That means nothing, I attended both legs of the ECL semi final and Abidal was abject.

Dommenech picks his defenders based on their star sign so really pal, that proves jack.

Evra's a European champion and has won the league 2 years in a row. Its a joy watching Evra bombing down the left wing. I wouldn't have anyone else in that position.

Evra is starting ahead of Abidal today because of massive complaints from French fans and media about Abidal being crap.

Evra's only rival is Zambrotta.

Lily Savage couldn't pick a France side if he tried. Mexes who is excellent isn't even in the squad. The shameful Boumsong is.

Players like Pires were booted out in their prime. Youngsters like Nasri and Ben Arfa don't get in the 11/squad.

He had Barthez in net WC06 long after he'd been exposed as useless.

Evra's only plausible rival is Clichy who isn't quite as good going forward but probably harder to beat in defence. He's another who isn't even in the squad.

He's the most consistent player at the best club in the world. He is definitely the best left back in the world. The only reason Abidal keeps him on the bench is Dommenech's astrology. As for Clichy being better, give me a break!

And i think as last night proved Abidal is rubbish and Patrice Evra is slightly less rubbish, so yes Patrice is number one.
