Gutted - totally gutted

Championship Cardiff City
comment on the article

Cannot believe Cardiff have sold their most saleable asset so cheap and to make it even worse to not insist on a loan back for a season.
Yes it was the kids choice, but at the end of the day he was under contract and City should have insisted on getting another season out of him.
In years to come, Cardiff fans will say "oh yes, I recall him, he played a few games that year we got to the Cup Final. Pity we never saw much more of him but the club did a Toshack and sold him."
That £5m will be wasted on lesser talents.
When will Cardiff City FC ever learn.

I dont know much about Aaron Ramsey not being either a Cardiff or Arsenal fan. But I do know this much from having opportunities for first team football at Cardiff, he has gone to Arsenal where he will be a reserve team player, maybe making the odd appearance in a Carling Cup tie.I personally think it is a bad move for the player especially as Arsenal dont exactly give their British players much in the way of 1st team action. Is another case of a young player seeing the bright lights of London and the ££££ signs.

The reason i asked was that I understand why Cardiff fans are sad to see Ramsey go... BUT, if you are Welsh, the fact that Wenger has picked him up should be a massive boost...I'm sure most Cardiff fans realise how much of a great prospect he is, but he will improve at Arsenal, AND with Giggs on the way out, Ramsey will be the only Welsh player at any of the top 4, for me, that shows how good he is...

Im 100% sure chelsea have a u-21 goalkeeper Rhys Thomas? is it? or something in their squad

What I'm annoyed about is that if Simon Jordan or the old Southampton chairman, Lowe had Ramsey they wouldn't have sold him for £5m.Risdale has just smelt the money and snatched at it.Why accept £5m if you have Utd,Everton and Arsenal wanting him .It should have bn a straight bidding war and I bet he would have gone for £7m in the end.If Risdale ives Dave Jones the money to get Chopra back then fair enough but I gaurantee we will end u with Howard of Leicester for £750k.

I have to say that 5M is a truely awful deal for Ramsey. To put it into perspective Burnley are set to sell Kyle Lafferty for 4.5M
----------------------
Kyle Lafferty is 20 and has quite a few international games under his belt, Ramsey is only 17 and might not mature into a world class player
I think he will but Arsenal are still taking a risk
I think a fairer value of Ramsey is £6-7 million so i think you sold him cheap
At least the other big talent you have is still there
Joe Ledley Looks top drawer

Rob Earnshaw, record breaking goal-machine - £3m
Chris Gunter, 18 year old with Welsh caps - £3m
Gabbidon and Collins, improving young Welsh internationals - £3.2m for the pair
Cameron Jerome, decent season but arguably a bit limited - £3.5m
Michael Chopra, talented goalscorer who was bought for 500k - £5m

Aaron Ramsay, relatively untested 17 year old with no high-level experience - £5m

Personally I don't think we could have asked for any more than that. Southampton haven't seen anywhere near the millions quoted by the papers for the Walcott and Bale transfers. We're a Championship club selling an untried 17 year old, so to say we've let him go cheap is overreacting slightly.

As for us not needing to sell him.... you're having a laugh aren't you? We've got a tiny squad, low crowds, a courtcase with Langston and no money to spend on new players. £5m will make a great deal of difference, especially if it means we can hang on to players like Ledley and Johnson.

Apart from the big four, EVERY club is a selling club if they're given no choice. Just ask Aston Villa, who are ever so slightly bigger than City right now.

What!!! He played 22 games for us and we get £5m. Thats good business. As for a loan back it souns good until you realise Man U wanted a loan fee of £500k. Also its fine if Ramsey stays fit for a season

Asd long as Jones gets the £5m to spend then I am happy - we have far greater need of a decent striker

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that Ramsey is Welsh and not English.

Anyway

I'm no fan of Cardiff but I hate the way the Prem is ruining football for the home nations. Before the prem guys like Ramsey, Bale, Walcott etc would have been playing regularly in the first division, and gaining experience to help their countries in their games. Now, Like Gunter, Ramsey has years of playing in the reserves, getting frustrated and bored, when he could have been playing regularly and learning about being a professional footballer at Cardiff. Does anybody really think Walcott has improved since moving to Arsenal?

From the outside the Man united deal looked better for the player because he'd be loaned back and playing football. Forget the few extra quid he'd be earning every week. He wont have to worry about money had he gone to any of the clubs in for him. Fergie, as horrible as he is, really does give youth a chance in way that Wenger wont, unless they fit into his eurpoean vision. Moyes IMO would have been a better manager for a young kid than Wenger.

I hope for Ramsey's sake, and for the Welsh national teams's sake, he turns out to be good enough to play for the gunners. But I wouldnt hold my breath.

does seem remarkably cheap. £5m.

I think Cardiff do need congratulating on their youth policy. Compared to Swansea for example, they do seem to be doing their bit for the national team!

Ledley, Earnshaw, Gunther, Gabbs, Collins, Now Ramsey and I reckon Darcy Blake will come good!

It's always the same at Ninian Park. Sell sell sell, it's their way, and has been for as long as I remember.( 60 years )
Mansell, Moore, Hitchens, Rodruiguez, Toshack just to mention some of their earlier sell-offs to the unenlightened. They've been doing this since the early 50's when we could look forward to having 40,000 for a Wednesday nights European Cup match!, AND be in the 1st Division to boot!
OK, money's ruined the game, and a Chairman HAS to be businesslike because the game, the lovely game, as it once was, has lost touch with reality. Consequences are, there will BE no football club if he doen't get his books balanced, so now only a handful of clubs control the talent throughout the Country, and Ramsey HAD to go so that the Bluebirds could have a future.
I hate it, but circumstances have changed for the worst during my involvement with Cardiff City AFC over all these years and without a major financial investor we are doomed to be the nursery for those who have been lucky enough to get someone in who has more money than sense!.
