Monday's gossip column

comment on the article

Plenty of gossip about comings and goings at Chelsea in this morning's papers - which is very interesting considering the Blues are still without a manager.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foo...

Didier Drogba looks set to join AC Milan but Andriy Shevchenko will not be joining him at the San Siro, while the Blues hope to beat Inter Milan to the signing of Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o.

Bayern Munich have apparently told Chelsea they will need to pay £31m to sign Franck Ribery, while PSG hope to lure Claude Makelele away from Stamford Bridge.

There is a bit of chat about the next Chelsea manager too - with owner Roman Abramovich set to interview Frank Rijkaard and Roberto Mancini on his yacht off the south of France this week.

So what do you make of all these rumours? And do you have any to share yourselves?

I agree that Gerrard is not a starter in central midfield. If he is to play then it should be on the right hand side. I think a 4-2-3-1 formation could really work, with Rooney part of the 3 not the 1.

whois better in the centre? barry? lampard? carrick? hargreeves? parker? barton? nononononono

I think the point is that Barry, Carrick, Hargreeves and even the much maligned Lampard have generally been better in CMF for the past 2 seasons.

His most productive spells for Liverpool have come playing CMF or more recently SS off Torres. The simple fact of the matter is an ortadox CMF he's average to see the best of Gerrard playing to his strengths he needs to play with a certain amount of freedom he won't get playing CMF, it's too important tactically.

Vaguely back on thread topic, we've officially reportd Real Madrid to FIFA over the Ronaldo saga

Good news, even if I can't see anything more than a fine at worst and it ultimately probably won't stop them. Hopefully it'll disuade them from doing these things so publically and disrespectfully... if they do then him them where it hurts CL sanctions.

FIFA cant as the CL is UEFA. I do hope there is a big sanction, even I think their pursuit has been nothing short of disrespectful to he premier league and cheating

They will get a fine, little more than that can be done...they will make it back + a few million on day one of Ronaldo shirt sales.

Well in that case... I can see no point in the whole thing aside from as PR excersize

It's a fair point you make about Makele protecting Chelsea's back line and him being the best in the business at it - they are not the same team without him.

Interesting to see we've reported Real over all the Ronnie stuff.

I did wonder whether Madrid had perhaps tried to telephone OT to apologise - perhaps they did and they spent 3 bloody hours on hold as we did last Friday trying to renew the season ticket before actually going in person to the Ticket Office.

End of gripe........

Ok you are all going on Gerrard not scoring etc then you must look at the rest of the squad like Rooney what has he done for England? Who ever Capello picks just back him. And you are all wrong about Carra as most coaches would of plyaed him.

----

Where? Certainly not centre back...Terry and Ferdinand are much better than him; Woodgate and King are on his level. Right back, he doesn't come close to Gary Neville as a right back.
