Well, well, fancy seeing you here. Welcome to Euro Two Thousand and Great. A feast of 31 games awaits us, starting with co-hosts Switzerland against 2004 semi-finalists the Czech Republic. That kicks off at 1700 BST in Basel before Portugal meet Turkey in the second Group A game in Geneva at 1945 BST.

Being part of the EU doesn't determine whether you're part of the European continent doh.

Anyway, I'm quite enjoying a Euro tournament without having to worry about how bad England are or how good they could be. Not bad for the first two games, roll on the next lot for tomorrow!

Well I say enjoy, so long as the BBC don't keep reminding us that we're not in it... WE KNOW! It's not a talking point, it doesn't generate interest, it's just pointless. It's hard to chose between ITV who openly fellate each other over certain individuals, and the BBC commentators who moan, remind and constantly read off pointless stats.

Sorry Kop I thought it was the other way round. I thought Turkey looked poor never carved out a chance. While Portugal though not battering them looked very comfortable. Furthermore, it was good to see them playing it on the deck.
It is also cagey on the first round of matches. Its also about peaking at the right time. Remember the World Cup. Argentina sialed through the group stages looked nailed on to win it and lost to Germany. While Italy kick and scratch their way out of every game and up winning
I also cant agree about England. While I thought Turkey were average England didnt qualify because they didnt deserve it.
Bottom line-They were outplayed by teams who were better technically than them. Croatia played them off their own park home and away and they arent favourites are they? Until England learn how to pass and move, retain possession and actualy become better footballers they are always likely to be outdone by nations regardless of their talent who can play football ie Russia and Croatia. If they did qualify they wouldnt get past proper football teams anyway e.g. France, Ital, Portugal, Spain, Holland and Germany.
