Johnson and Whittingham bids rejected

comment on the article

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

So we've had offers of £1m+ for the two lads which spells excellent work from Dave Jones part as he signed them both for around £250k.

Okay, so Roger Johnson we all know is a pivotal part of the team and we'd have to be asking upwards of £3m for him but as for Whitts I think £1m+ may be a good deal for us.

We all know Whittingham runs either HOT or cold and is quite inconsistent to say the least, but would you consider £1m+ for him? I would certainly be thinking of accepting that, but maybe the thing that could push his value up is his set-piece delivery and also his young age.

What's your opinions on the this?

I'd be gutted to lose Johnson (dare I say even more so than Rambo) but I would be okay if we sold whittingham as I think DJ could sign an able replacement with his track record of signings.

I think £3m for Johnson is about right as you can see he'll keep improving. If a club comes in with £2m fo Whits, I think the club will have to accept. We'd have to keep Ledley though.

Russia 22/1 to win the Euros. Hiddink in charge. Full of Zenit players....

how come ipswich are suddenly big spenders. all ive heard is them buying all these other players in the league.
i could understand qpr, and freshly relegated teams, but how come ipswich (who i see as a lower half of the league team) suddenly buy all these players with magilton in charge, when i can't remember them spending much with a manager who earnt respect like royle?

Hi guys, was just browsing your comments as a Town fan who I'm sorry to say hasn't heard of Johnson and wanted to see how good Cardiff fans thought he was.

In answer to the question about why we're splashing the cash and being linked with all and sundry:

1 We were taken over at Christmas by a rich businessman, Marcus Evans, who bought out the huge debt that we had (since relegation/administration) and has provided Magilton with a war chest. We bought a couple of players in Jan (notably Norris from Plymouth for £2m, who promptly got injured), and are now trying to amount a squad who can win away from home as well as at home!

2 Jason De Vos has retired and we need a decent CB

Yeah we spent about £3,000,000 in January on Norris, Quinn and Sumulikoski. Looks like we are prepared to spend atleast equal to that this summer if not more but we won't be spending £3,000,000 for one player- highly unlikely anyway.

Rumours are saying that Jim has been given 13million and might be more if Haynes is sold but i think it will be closer to 5m. I reckon Johnson would be a very good centre back and, cardiff fans, would he make a decent captain?

Johnston works in tandem with Loovens and as well asan excellent defender, can score enough goals per season (if used this way) to make him an excellent prospect.
Captain material? yes, most probably.
All I know is this, if he was to leave us, it would be a much bigger loss than Ramsey or Whittingham, highly rated by us, I don't think you'll find a bluebird with a bad word to say about this guy's playing ability, tremendous asset in our team.

On a different note, Fowler is set to stay on a pay-as-you-play deal. Anyone agree that this is good news for all parties?

Well i do 07, not sure all will agree with it though, but if thats the deal what have we got to lose, if he is not doing the job then he won't play, if he doesn't play he won't get paid. Sounds good to me!
