Dwain ChambersBritish athletics by sdw1960uk - Still keeping the faith (U12208562) 05 June 2008 Chambers has admitted cheating. There is no dispute about this and there should be no grace given. Holding the hand up and admitting it does not make it OK or mean that a second chance should be given. Anyone want to give Ben Johnson back his gold medal and world record ? I don't think so. Chambers knowingly broke the rules of fair competition and should not be allowed to compete again, especially not in a British vest. Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

mnielsen1 (U12623773) posted Jul 10, 2008 I think chambers should be allowed to compete at the olympics. Firstly because he has served his ban and can't do anything about his drug taking in the past. Also many people have a dream to represent their country at the olympics and if they make one silly mistake they shouldn't have this privilage taken away. No one can prove for sure that the drugs which he took has given him a long term advantage and if he's off drugs now then he should be allowed to compete. I know it doesn't sound good that a former drugs cheat is competing for our country which arguably makes the sport look bad, but it's about dwains right to be able to have a chance to represent his country if he wants to. If he turns out to be good enough at the trials then I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be alllowed to compete in Beijing. I also think that taking drugs for sport should be made an illegal offence. This would stop the young athletes aiming for 2012 from making the wrong choice and getting themselves into the unfortunate situation which dwain is facing.
