The larger the population of the country, generally better the team...Brazil is the most populous country in football world and have won most world cups (US and China don't like "football").

Germany has better talent and will win but austria will try hard. There are exceptions to the population rule, ie the dutch

How much of an effect did their loss to croatia have? This last game will prove whether Germanys class of 2008 is able to bounce back from their croatia defeat. Italy and possibly France have strruggled afetr miserable first matches. Could Germany go the same way?

A drawer with croatia is not the worst they have been through. In fact their first ever world cup win in the 50s started with Hungary hammering them!

---------------------------------

It wasn't a drawer sadly. It was an MFI oak-effect coffee table in which Germany were beaten 2-1. I think Loew is really going to regret not calling Marin into the final 23. As it would somehow curb his international development. Bar, amongst a few respected journalists and football aficionados, he is still a relative unknown outside of Germany.

I'd like to see Austria win, and not because I dislike Germany - just because its nice to see the hosts do well.

China LOVES football.

Their only problem, is their complete lack of youth development and coaching, which is only starting to be realised and corrected after years of neglect. And of course, there has been a big drive to get their top athletes competing in other sports ahead of the Beijing Olympics.

I hope Austria can cause an upset but I reckon the Germans will get through with a draw.

poland were terrible in this tournament. only greece have been worse. apart from those two, all other nations have contributed to a good tournament. i suppose at least the polish fans have been good.
