Kelly Sotherton for her part will miss having a future champion teamate (Jessica Ennis) to share the triumphs of Beijing.It'll mean one medal less for GB team.
The overall picture for GB ? My opinion is that GB will do better than what most think. Kelly will have to put even more effort into her performance.

it's a great personal blow, especially when you think that in her event major championships are the only real opportunities they have. There aren't any money-making Golden Leagues or Grand Prixes as with most athletes. very sorry for her.

gutting, I really thought the little tadpole could do something special. Impressive she was setting PBs with a broken ankle, shows what good shape she was in.

few heterosexual men would dispute she was and is in good shape i'm sure!

seriously, it's bad news. the number of likely athletics medals for the UK at beijing was pretty low already; and this injury, along with Radcliffe's, assuming she doesn't make it though total respect for her trying to, means it's now almost none existant.

One of the reasons I am going to Beijing to support the British team was to savour the prospect of seeing perhaps 2 british women on the podium. Jessica is a prodigious talent and will be back in business next year. It is a real blow for the British teams medal hopes in Beijing. Very unluckly for this to happen to such a lovely young lady.

I am sure the show will go on without Jessica The GB team has loads of young talented athletes who will put on a good show. Kelly Sotherton will pave the way once again.However the young russian is the favorite to win according to the world rankings. I cant wait to watch the olympics this year.
