Who will win the Premiership?

Premiership Leicester
comment on the article

Hold on to your hats, team. It's Wasps v Leicester again in the Guinness Premiership final at Twickenham. We all know what that means - plenty of grunt, masses of brawn, a fair bit of brain and probably some biffo.

Tigers are hoping to end a somewhat lacklustre season - failure in Europe, defeat in the EDF Energy Cup final, just about scraping into the play-offs - with a second straight title.

Wasps will hope to poop their party once again, just like they did in 2005 and also in last year's Heineken Cup final.

Three years ago the Londoners ruined the farewell of Martin Johnson and Neil Back, who were retiring. This year, the tables are turned with Wasps veteran Lawrence Dallaglio hanging up the boots.

So, can Tigers knock back that jutting out chin one last time, or will knockout specialists Wasps triumph again?

Wherever you are watching the game, get in touch and join in the banter.

And keep those of a nervous disposition under wraps.

Well done wasps.
From a fan of the chokers

Couldn't wait could he.....

How did tigers get to a final if they only beat Gloucester ? Or was that only beat Gloucester minus Tindall ? If so , he's a veritable one man army .

What you mean "always a pleasure to see Leicester get beaten"

Again, regardless , well done wasps.

well done wasps

however, it is worth noting that the only team that has baten them since the world cup is gloster. i still think that they should recieve some recognition for topping the table for 21 out of 22 of the rounds. also, good to see a massive crowd at twickenham but can't help but feel where are those wasps fans most of the time. wasps struggle to sell out a 10,000 stadium, whereas the likes of glos, tigers, bath would fill it every week.

anyway, well done wasps but it shoul dbe glos' and will be next season!

What a game! What an ending for Lol. It showed the kind of man he has been at the end of match interview. Dedicated the match to Hignall, another great sportsman in his time as well as knowledgeable commetator. And then to not only praise his own team, but that of Leicester, and both sets of fans. Leicester played well, did well, and at times looked dangerous. But I never doubted Haskell and Company would deny Lol one last hurrah. Maybe it will be Martin Corry's finale next year, who knows. One thing is guaranteed. If it is, it will be against Wasps in the final again, because these two teams are the sporting greats of their generation in Rugby Union. Loved it. Thank you Lol, thank you Wasps.

Someone further up asks where all these Wasps fans are every week when they can't often fill the stadium. Well, here's the answer, it's in their name!! LONDON Wasps. That is where they should be playing, not Wycombe. Then all us members and fans could get to see them. It is an away match every week if you do want to see them at present, for the likes of us. I had such a great day yesterday, but the idea of travelling an hour and a half there and then back minimum, round the M25 and M40 with all the traffic problems, does not excite me. So please get your new stadium in LONDON!!

The suggestion that Leicester "didn't really turn up" except for 20 minutes in the second half is pure self-delusion, and is one reason why they have lost more finals than they have won in the last six years.
Fact is, Wasps played a higher tempo, more efficient, organised, clever game with attacking intent of the kind that the Tigers can only dream about.
The proof of that was in how the Leicester half backs struggled in the first half with their timing. They just couldn't match the Wasps game pace.
Almost game by game now, Rob Andrew's hopeless mistake in letting Shaun Edwards go to Wales looks one of lunacy.
He and McGeechan made the Leicester thinkers look like amateurs.
For all the talk about Corry and Crane being great players before the game, they were second best by a mile to the Wasps back row trio.
And the same could be said of Ellis to Reddan, and Goode, Mauger and Hipkiss to Flutey, Waldouck, and Waters.
It was a game too far for Leicester, and like England in the World Cup, proved they had over-achieved just by getting there.
Bath gave Wasps a better game in the semi-final and that should really have been the final.

How can you say ellis had a poor game. He almost set up 2 tries and scored another. And to say Wasps werent cynical is ridiculous the ref was just letting them get away with it

I'm afraid ,that whoever said that Tigers didn't really turn up except for 20 minutes is not delusional, for Leicester fans it is an unfortunate fact.
They were outplayed completely by a much better organised more powerful side. Then they "turned up " and pretty much dug in.
Most fans will agree that Leicester weren't in the final on the back of a run of outstanding performances by any stretch, indeed wouldn't in the final at all had Sale "turned up".
There is a sea change behind the scenes at Welford Rd and they are some way behind other clubs ,including Bath,in terms of putting in cohesive controlled performances and indeed playing more positive rugby, and have reacted by almost insular containment on the pitch rather than cohesive attack.
For the record - Bath have turned around their own fortunes and I wouldn't have put money on their finishing position at the begining of the season. It wasn't too long ago that bath themselves were in freefall , so to point out that they should have been the "real" finalists is a stupid observation , as all team's fortunes (no matter how good) wax and wane.

Proving in some way that they "over achieved" only serves to delight people who want them to fail. Leicster's fans just hope they will sort themselves out internally for next season and decide which route they going down when they run on to the pitch I should think.
Leicester are way behind where they were a coupkd of years ago , and to those of the fans that know why ,and comment on here ,it's not surprising.
One thing they did show ,was ,as usual ,that they weren't going to give up. After the first half's mauling ,whatever critics level at them, there are only a few teams who can do that.

Mikey - it was me who made the comment that Leics didn't really turn up apart from the first 20 mins of the second half. As a neutral, the only time I thought Leics really kicked into gear was that period; else they seemed lacklustre. That's taking nothing away for Wasps, who as always for finals, played very well.
