We sing that at ALL the gingers, as far back as when James Collins was playing for Cardiff back in Div 2. My Spurs supporting mate was with me at one of those games and he was pi$$ing himself.

Watson's a good player, I'm not sure he'd impress enough to play every week though. Johnson from Boro would be a better buy. I hope Dowie knows that we really need an impressive anchor in midfield, someone whose presence will allow Buz and Rowly (and hopefully Vine) to get the creativity flowing. We've not been linked to any such player as yet.

Ah but then Rblock we have the mighty Bolder!! Seriously though I would have tried to nab Boateng as he is out of contract I believe and 30 odd appearances a season wouldn't be too much for his old bones. Alternatively maybe Walton will improve with a decent pre-season under his belt.

Is Watson a centre of midfield anchorman or more a left sided midfielder? I assume for the anchor role it will be either Leigerwood or Mahon (is he signed BTW or is he on loan still?). I think that could work well with two out wide (hopefully Johnson/ Harmosi/ Cook on the left with AN other on the right: perhaps Vine if he doesn't mind it out there, as not convinced by Ephraim yet and worried the young Eytie not experienced enough). Then play with just one really good striker up front.
Still, seems to have gone quiet on Johnson. Assume that's not going to happen?

Do you think young Mathew Connolly could hold in midfield? tidy enough with the ball at his feet also think that Watson could play there.

Not sure Watson would have the strength for the holding midfield role. I thought he played out left?

Connolly would be a possibility but would prefer him in the back 4.

Connolly is too much of an asset at the back, but I like your thinking there Winalotto. I seem to remember people suggesting Rio Ferdinand could do the same thing about 10 years ago.

Ledge is good, maybe I'm being greedy. If we could have Ledge's energy, Mahon's steel and experience, and Walton's passing in one little bundle we'd have the player we need in that position.

Watson has played in the middle but he's more of a wide man, and he's certainly no holding player. I was aways impressed by Dean Marney at Hull - is there any reason he didn't start in the PO Final? If he was unwanted I'd like to see him at LR.

Talking of Hull, did you read that item on one of the boards saying that Walton had hoped for a permanent move to Hull but it broke down after a row with the manager? Also said he had angered Hull fans by going to Leeds matches wearing a Leeds shirt. I know he had a difficult season but wondering how committed he is.
I know what Rblock means: Buz and Rowlands are class but all those other holding midfielders - Walton, Ledge, Mahon and certainly Boulder - are good-ish but not brilliant. Alas my hunch - and it is only a hunch - is that the board wants to gain promotion on the cheap. Think it might take them a season to learn that a prize of £60m - which is what promotion means - just doesnt come cheap. The division is going to be a lot stronger this season and simply to stand still clubs are going to have to improve considerably.

if you believe Hull fans they don't wont him and said his passing was poor, and i don't think he started many games for them. mind you Dowie bought him at Charlton so he must like him.

Walton just needs a good pre-season I reckon. It must have been quite trying for a young player to move clubs, pick up such a nasty injury and then return to an entirely different landscape within that club. I was enthused when I heard he had spoken to GP prior to the PO final and said he was determined to return and fight for his place - I think that shows the right mentality. Good luck to him.

Watson is nothing no way in hell a wide player, would be the worst wide player ever.

Central attacking midfielder through and through, he can't play anywhere else!
