Now HTC has been sacked it seems tht Rijkaard's chances of being manager have now all but vanished....it appears tht he is not even in the frame now which im disappointed about as he wud be the one to bring gd football etc. However, these 2 had a major falling out at Barca which is why HTC left for the Ajax job, so maybe Rijkaard still has a chance and due to this the board want to avoid any conflict by getting shot of Ten Cate...TBH this action could be interpreted both ways in regard to Rijkaard's chances.

SSN think tht Ancelotti and Scolari are now the main frontrunners....both of which im not particularly keen on. Scolari whilst being immense at International level is completely inexperienced at club level and i jst dnt rate Ancelotti.....hes been crap this season with AC.....dint qualify for the CL nxt season and got knock out in the group stages i believe of the champions league.....so god help us with both of these.

Also, with Scolari we'd have to wait at least another month before appointing him cz of the Euros which is another drawback. All in all im not holding out much hope.

JJC1970 - As a Chelsea fan i hate to say you have a point. The club have been too arrogant for their own good and now that this is happening it gives all the other funs ammo to laugh at as. Everyone has wanted to see Chelsea fall from grace as soon as Mourinho took over. So if we appoint someone and it goes wrong - we'll be a laughing stock. The New Newcastle if you like!
Ancelotti is a decent coach. He's won everything! Bad season this season but i think it's just a case of going stale with an ageing team. He's been there a long time. Rijkaard - hmmm not so sure about. Good age and good CV but his antics against us in europe - could he be hated more than Jose? Scolari - Great at international level, but has he ever managed a club team? Mancini - surely he's going to bring dull Italian tactics with him? Sven - I'd rather support Spurs! Hiddink is the man for me. Proven at club and international level, wouldn't stand for the big ego's and has a good relationship with the owner. I'd also take Deschamps with Zola as assistant!

Also, i'd rather get whoever in before the Euro's. Or at least get him to sign the contract before hand so he can look for players. The last thing we need is Kenyon/Arnesen and co buying players for the manager otherwise he won't have his own team and the whole Mourinho issues will repeat all over!

HTC has done a lot of good work as an assistant at a number of clubs and is probably one of the best no 2s in the world but I can't see how you can tell an assistant his job is safe when they don't even know who the next manager is going to be.

Not sure if it is a good decision but it was definitely an unevitable one.

The big worry is to be letting Steve Clarke go, no one in the modern era knows the club better than he does. He'll be a massive loss but wish him well if he decides to become a manager

BecksIsGod23 (U10899781) ...
For me Mourinho was your man and wherever he ends up is Chelsea's loss and Inter's gain if that's where he goes. Although it took time, I liked Mourinho. I liked his confidence and I liked his arrogance and I liked his unpredictable nature. The Prem is a duller place without him! Maybe you should take a leaf out of Arsenal and Man United's book (along with Liverpool England's most successful clubs). Both have spent money, one more than the other maybe ... both however have strong, solid foundations and succes has appeared over a sustained period of time. The Russian needs to realise that spending countless millions on this player and that player, this manager and that manager not forgetting the compensation that Mourinho, Grant, Ten Cate etc. must've been paid doesn't buy you instant success to the level that you seems to want overnight and in the process as I said before is making Chelsea a laughing stock!

finally Roman decided to sack the REAL manager of CFC last season. Actually, CFC was playing some good football and I believe Cate was the man responsible for it.

If someone told me 8-9 months ago that we would do a straight swap with Mourinho for Mancini, I would have thrown-up in my lap. This quite possibly could be a reality though. Mourinho is still the best manager of the lot. None of the other availble managers excite me in the least. Scorali, Hiddink? No Thanks.

No-one will ever be good enough for Chelsea fans after Mourinho, so whoever is appointed will be a disappointment. Mancini, Rijkaard, Ancelotti et al are all top European coaches and would be expected to bring success to Chelsea within two seasons. Chelsea fans should be grateful for what they've got, and compare their situation now to their situation five years ago - quite an improvement.
