I've been thinking about the recent players that have been called up because os the call-offs and it got me thinking that our national team is actually looking pretty good for the future.

Current Definates:
Craig Gordon
Allan MacGregor
Alan Hutton
Stephen McManus
Gary Caldwell
Gary Naysmith
Christian Dailly
Barry Ferguson
Scott Brown
Paul Hartley
Darren Fletcher
James McFadden
Kenny Miller

Those on the way Out:
Davie Weir
Lee McCulloch
Graham Alexander
Gary Teale
Gary O'Connor

Those Breaking the Door:
Ross McCormack
Steven Fletcher
Kevin Thomson
Steven Whittaker
Barry Robson
James Morrisson
Christophe Berra
Kevin McNaughton
David Clarkson

Those Needing to Improve but Have Potential:
Sean Maloney
Stephen Naismith
Chris Burke
Kris Boyd
Russell Anderson
Stevie Smith
Andy Webster

There are obviously a lot more in the potential part and even more for long term such as Caddis, Fleck etc. I'm quite happy with the prospects of the future to be honest and glad we starting to get rid of deadwood like Teale and McCulloch.

Think Robson will be in the definates mate. I'd rather him on the left / right than McCulloch or Brown

dailly is on the way out and boyd is a definite for the squad, but has to improve at the same time. he will always be in the scotland because we cannot afford not to have the most prolific scottish goalscorer sitting at home watching the tv.
possibly if oconner improves he could be chapping on the door, so i wouldnt get rid of him just yet.

Why do no no old firm scottish teams have much players in the squad. Only Clarkson and Berra aren't non OF SPL players out of the whole squad. How come Barry Robson only got a game when he signed for Celtic when he was playing better for United? Or why is Russel Anderson allways in the squad despite not getting in the sunderland team and getting shipped out to plymouth. He was the best scottish defender in the SPL not so long ago and was being ignored. Also I would add Zander Diamond,Lee Miller ,Lee Wilkie ,Lee Wallace and Stephan Hughes to the lists(lots of lees).

I just mean Boyd isn't exactly a first pick on the squad and doesn't have many caps yet-same goes for Robson. I personally would have Robson playing every game-think he's a great player.

I think Dailly will be out in the future but for now he's still in the team.

I do think there should be a few more non-OF players in there but lets be honest the OF players have that Champs league experience which is vital in International matches and I think thats one reason we did so well in last qualifying.

I think the Aberdeen players are really too inconsistent, you never know if any of them will be amazing or utter rank each week.

Hopefully Motherwell can make the most of their UEFA opportunity next season and get a few more players other than McCormack and Clarkson in there. Stephen Hughes is another prospect and he does have a bit of Champ League experience LOL.
