Leicester v Wasps - The Best of Enemies

Premiership
comment on the article

So on Saturday Leicester and Wasps will bring the curtain down on the 2007/08 domestic season in England.

The game will be the latest in a series of 'big games' where the two sides have met.

It'll also be Lawrence Dallaglio's final game and possibly Marcelo Loffreda's last as Leicester coach, if they lose.

I've taken a look back at six recent classic encounters between the pair.

What is your favourite Leicester v Wasps game? And got any highlights in particular from recent matches?

Finally...any big match predictions? I'm going for a Leicester win by less than ten.

i think wasps will win, but i doubt it will be close - the best chance we have of winning is to tactically outplay them again, and so if that goes to plan i don't see leicester coming close

Wasps are not just a one man team, they still have 6 good match winners in...

1.Haskell
2.Rees
3.Sackey
4.Redden
5.Lewsey
6.Fleuty

All of these are game winners on good form that exludes the likes of Vickey, Payne, Shaw, Palmer, Lol, Ibanez and Worsley who have all been capped in the past year and Waldouck who has shown the talent to get capped soon and Waters who has had a really good season

Tommorow is a good opportunity for Waldouck to shine!

VanGisbergen is the only player

Van Gisbergen is no stranger to Twickenham having started all three of Wasps previous Premiership Finals, and holds the record for the most individual points in a final, having scored 26 against Leicester at Twickenham in 2005.

Van Gis may have had a few bad games, especially after his Engand matches under Andy Robinson. His confidence seemed to go. However, when he had to deputise for Cipriani in the Bath game, he never missed a ball or a tackle, and his kicking was spot on again. I would say his confidence is back and will be pushing for a regular first team place again next year.

Even as a Wasps fan I disagree with what Mickey Phil has to say about Moody. He has become an awesome player, and in the next four years he will become better and better.

On the game tomorrow I'm hoping Wasps can out muscle the Tigers up front.

If the tigers can get regular clean ball, with Goode's boot and Wasps lineout, Tigers will have a distinct advantage.

If it's anywhere near the quality of the last two games It will be a cracker.

Shame there's no Walder or Cipriani. sadface

I like Moody at 6. I would love to see him, Rees and Haskell as a back row unit. It would have to be one of the fastest, most competetive back rows in the world.

As a Leicester fan I hope it goes our way this afternoon, but whatever happens I'm pretty sure it's going to be the premiership match of the season. Wasps are our nemesis when it comes to these big games, but I hope Tigers can give them a run for their money if not beat them.

It is very difficult to predict the outcome. I know it's obvious to say but the team that performs the best on the day will win. Cipriani missing is a big blow, as well as Voyce not available through injury. Those two injuries probably even things up. Dallaglio is a presence but I can see Crane, Corry and co. spoiling the party. Wasps 20-24 Leicester.
