England Are Back!!! Not!!!

International England
comment on the article

Another pointless friendly to get the fans believing England are back. I dont see why he has called up Young, Ashton, Agbonlahor, Wheater, Theo & all the other younger players when they dont even get a chance. We didnt look any different to when McClaren was in charge.

Well said ArsenalsGuns why have all the youngers in the team and not play them, England have been the same team playing the same bland football since Sven took over, its boring to watch and its never going to change. To be fair you could drop Lampard & Gerrard replace them with Hargreaves & Barry and we would play better. and this talk of Bently being the new Beckham we don't need another Beckham, we need players that can run at people, take players on players like Ashley Young & Theo Walcott (T.W Not ready for full time international competion) Why has Joe Cole been so influential in the England team? because he takes players on, because he runs at players, he is the of player that blossoms in the England team! So i say seeing as we didn't qualify for Euro'08 with the regular selection of players like Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, OWEN (HA JOKE OF A PLAYER)Why does the coach select the same players? I HATE Steve Maclaren but it can't all be blamed on him! Look at Chelsea they lost all faith in their manager but the team came together because they had enough experience and quality to play the game without a world class coach and look at the progress they made. They may not have won anything but witout a good coach they did exceptionally well! it takes a lot for me to admit that!!! I'm an Arsenal fan & i hate Chelsea but its not about the prem! England look the same team now (under Capello) as we did then (under Mclaren) against T&T on Sunday he should play
J.Hart

G.Johnson R.Ferdinand P.Jagielka W.Bridge

T.Walcott S.Gerrard G.Barry A.Young

G.Agbonlahor J.Defoe

why not? we couldn't manage a draw with Croatia, with the star studded line up! and in the world cup 06 fixture that same star studded line up just about beat T&T!!!

i hate to say it maybe England should take a page out of the Wales book and show some faith in its youngers because the older more experienced players seem to be stuck in a time warp!!!!!

Just saw the second goal again. It might be the best England goal I've ever seen. 12-13 pass move all with 1 or 2 touches, the pass by Barry was excellent and Gerrard's touch and finish were exquisite.

I Agree with. And why was it!

Answer.
Lampard wasn't on the pitch, even a die hard lampard lover has to be honest and say his England days are numbered. When Barry came on England looked a different team!!!

i didnt say people werent watching the game. it is the nature of football to stick with your side through thick and thin. i simply stated that england won two nil, but no one cares, i had a hundred people in our pub for the game and a number were willin usa to score to wake the playboy spice boys up!

i find it ridiculous that a team can play like that and people say it was "solid" or we were "well organised"!

god i just wanna see us play through teams, it happened once on wed, and what happened? we scored! so....

that would lead me to believe that passing, movement and through balls make goals, why can they not do it more often. I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING CRAZY PILLS!

i think you'll find that the passionate football supporters are the ones who bemoan the team. i am a huge england fan, i wont settle for us being a mediocre team and that is what we are at the moment. ok lets all sit here like you and pat our team on the back for failing to qualify for euro 2008

hell why not give them a pay rise - i dont think they earn enough personally!

jesus boy! get a grip, ok an improvement under capello wednesday against a team who didnt know whether they were allowed to pick the ball up and throw to the n-zone!

im fed up of seeing countless talented line up wasted by managers who are looking for solidity on the pitch!

can you imagine if the brazil or spanish or portuguese managers told their respective teams "hey guys, get out there and put in a solid performance!"

they would laugh their asses off! just to break english tradition i'd love if our players went out there and played without fear like other teams.

take a risk, try a step over, beat the man down the wing. god, we've possibly got one of the best passing sides in the world if you look at individual talents, why cant we do it!

I unfortunately was in the car for the duration of this game so had it on the radio and I have to ask, why the hell does Alan Green still have a job with the BBC.
His negativity and general attitude towards even being there had me turning the game off for periods. He didn't want to be there, so why pay him to be there if all he's going to do is whinge and moan. Contradicting his co-commentator who correctly had the balls to critise Gerrard for a poor touch... oh no, dear old Alan wasn't having it... it was the poor pass! Pathetic!!!
I was expecting the worst when I watched the highlights however I was pleasently surprised. Yeah, we stoppped and started in a nothing game, but what did he expect. the substitutions were affective, the goals were well crafted and we did a good solid job.
Will the powers that be please put this miserable old man out to graze, because even the sound of his voice just makes me want to turn the radio off!

England's problem isn't the team. It's the unrealistic expectations of the fans. England has never been Brazil, isn't now and never will. Yet English fans somehow expect and demand that the team be as such when patently the football DNA will never allow that to happen, regardless of who coaches the team. Maybe English fans should look in the mirror and be more realistic.

=======================

im a fan of james, but hes not getting any younger. i'd like to see hart in there against t&t, just to see whats hes capable of on the international stage. i know some people will say thats he's played against tougher competition in the prem, but its different internationals. for the future, i would play richards ahead of johnson, hes quicker, stronger, and a rereal aerial threat, though to be fair johnson is no slouch and i think hes a little underrated. also i'd be switching young/ walcott/rooney

You’ve nearly all pointed out the 1 flaw in your own comments. Its amazing you cant even see it. The fact that as Adzer2 says “its comment by Shevabk2milan (U9020026)

just a case of whether they play well together or not” JUST a case? Do you not realise that gelling is half the job of getting a team right? It’s the foreigners who MAKE the premiership what it is, everyone AGREES with this.

Do you not think this applies to every other countries international team? Take Spain for example, in particular Real Madrid

Robinho (Brazil), Arjan Robben (Netherlands), Van Nistelrooy (Netherlands), Saviola (Argentina), Sneijder (Netherlands), Diarra (Mali), Heinze (Argentina), Metzelder (Germany), Baptista (Brazil), Gago (Argentina).

Hmmmmm, not many Spanish players there is there? Does this stop Spain being a major International team always with a chance to win tournaments? Not a hope they take what players they can from Real, Barca, etc and make a team with players from all over. There is nothing stopping England doing the same....

Sorry but Wales have won there last 3. England have won 2 of there last 3.

So Wales WOULD be ahead of England on form.
-------------------------
Highly selective that. Take the last 10 and see how that does for you. Wales were almost as close to coming bottom of their qualification group as we were to winning ours.
doh
