Great Night!

Light welter
comment on the article

Absolutely brilliant night last night, cant believe how good the atmosphere was, I bet Tysons never even seen anything like that! I just wish Lazcano was clapped rather than booed. I clapped him but I think I was one of the only ones. Malignaggi wasnt anything special and the highlight of the fight was him having to have his hair cut inbetween rounds, Hatton would beat him easily.

Hattons problem was he played upto the crowd too much and took a lot of punches but there was still no doubt who the winner was, you have to give Lazcano a lot of credit though! Thought his Mexican costume was funnier than Hattons fat suit.

Highlight of the day though, got to shake the legendary Michael Buffers hand!

i agree! i really like Lazcano and he didnt deserve that all! The guy who Carl Froch fought a few weeks ago who was drafted in at the last minuted was booed on as well! He'd just come to get beaten up for a few rounds so they had a fight to watch and they boo him for it, its disgraceful and even though I am a City and Hatton fan im also a proper boxing fan so I dont take part in any of that, i also started going to a boxing gym a few months ago and really like it.

I didn't know Lazcano got booed. That's pathetic. He showed more guts than almost any fighter could and is a true gentlemen to go with it. Anyway, I'm sure it's a case of the minority letting the majority down.

We city fans are used to booing. usually City.
I find it hard when a kid comes to fight and the mindless idiots that attach themselves to the sport, that don't really know the game, start booing.

BBC SPORTS EDITORS ANY PLANS ON SHOWING THE HATTON FIGHT ON BBC LIKE YOU HAVE DONE WITH RECENT FIGHTS? I really want to see the blue moon entrance again the place was buzzing! good 12 rounds of action, reminded me of joe calzaghes efficient - without obliterating - demolition of lacy. I felt that if hattons punches were that little bit more damaging he could have finished it earlier, but lazcano seemed able to withstand hattons best punches and indeed never really looked like going down. he did get badly beaten up though on the whole.

was a very good fight involving an english faveourite fighting on home soil I think it deserves a run on terrestrial.

It makes me fume. I wish Lazcano could see this thread so he knows he won a few fans with his valiant performance.

As fans we should have respect for every pro just for stepping through the ropes. I know the majority of the people on here do, but really while its fine to boo footballers who go over in a stiff breeze and pick up 100k a week for the priveledge, its really not ok to EVER boo a warrior who puts it all on the line. Maybe some of those chumps would like to try and go twelve rounds with Lazcano.

i agree the booing was a disgrace juan lazcano was a real nice guy n showed a lot of heart in the fight seem him at the weigh in and he shook my hand and commented on hattons good support top guy when mmpm hair got cut off it was so funny also happy i touched his belt at the weigh in fort the atmosphere was amazing. at the froch fight the fans also booed timothy badley but i fort they showed alot of respect after the fight when he got a standing ovation out of the ring you cant just focus on the boos

Can i say something please about everyone going on about the booing.....yes he got booed when he came on but thats coz he was the opponent but when the announcer came back into the ring after the fight and asked the fans to show there appreciation for Lazcano the whole stadium clapped and whistled......i shud know coz i was there..... the ppl on this post who were there and are on here sayin the booin was a disgrace are probably the ones who left the stadium halfway thru round 12....

I'm not a fan of booing opponents or national anthems, if you were there and say they didnt boo then I'm delighted to hear that. Bradley and Lazcano deserve plaudits for different reasons.

Lazcano was only boo'd on his entrance, which to me just felt like harmless banter, and it helped creat the atmosphere, personally I think Lazcano would have thrived on it, it werent aggresive or nasty, his national anthem wasn't boo'd and was stood for, and after the fight he definately had the respect of everyone in that stadium and did receive a standing clap.

All I would like to say on the matter is what a fighter, he is one of the toughest out there and Hatton did well to win that fight, he was limited skill wise, but if Hatton werent on top of his game he would of been out of there, you could see that when he got tagged in the eighth and was hanging on.

Change of topic

David Haye has signed with Golden Boy, and his next 4 fights at heavyweight will be in the o2 arena in London and live on setanta.

It appears George Groves, double ABA champion, who beat 2008 olympian James Degale has tuned Pro with Hayemaker Promotions, not sure if he is part of the Golden Boy partnership though.

Ryan Rhodes has also joined Hayemaker promotions.
