Give your thoughts on the Croke Park draw

International Republic of Ireland
comment on the article

An injury-time strike from Andy Keogh saved Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni from tasting defeat in his first game in charge.

Republic skipper Robbie Keane was denied by Slobodan Rajkovioc's goal-line clearance on 23 minutes.

Marko Pantelic took advantage of a Paul McShane mistake to fire Serbia ahead with 15 minutes left.

But substitute Keogh grabbed a late equaliser when he smashed an eight-yard volley past Vladimir Stocjkovic.

What did you think of the Republic display and are you hopeful that Trapattoni can take the team to the World Cup finals?

It was a terrible match, but hpoefully it should help Trap see what he can do with this team.McShane is a liability and he shouldnt be in that team.

The first game of the new managerial era means absolutely nothing.

I mean, Steve Staunton's first game was a 3-0 victory over Sweden and look how his reign turned out!

I agree with Trap that we need to add more height to the squad.
Looks to me that daryl murphy will be installed as the permanent striker with the other position up for grabs between ,keane ,doyle, long and keogh ( who i did not rate at all but he was another one who stan played out of position).keogh needs to put on weight as he is very slight and will not be able to compete physically when we play in a real game.
Hopefully the senior players days of picking there own positions on the field are gone.

At the ned of the day it was a friendly. A friendly directly after the season has finished. Did people honestly expect to see scintilating football? Judge Trappatoni after a number of competitive results and look on the plus side, at least you didnt loose!

Keane's main strenght in the Spurs team is that he thinks he could be dropped at any time. He know's he is going to play every game for Ireland so it doesn't look like he is trying as hard for us as he does for his club.

I was at the match on saturday,I through it was awful. I was at the stpats and bohemians match on Tuesday and there was more atmosphere here than at the Ireland match. There was more spirt shown by both teams involved. I think Eircom league players should get a look in. Mark Quigley and Keith Fathy a just a few. Don't go knocking this product if you never been to a Eircom league match. It is much improved and attendances are up. We have to look more at home in future.
