Gordon Strachan

Scottish Premier Celtic Rangers
comment on the article

Well done the wee man. I have never wavered in my support of him, even during the days when it looked like the league was slipping from our grasp.

The other lot could not wait to see him crack under pressure, after having two challenge free years. Well they gave us a stiff challenge and even under pressure the wee man retained his dignity.

Hail Hail Gordon

(hard lines to Walter, another good man)

i hate scottish football. its the same level as League 2.

========================
Actually as a Celtic Fan living in Milton Keynes I can assure you its not. The Dons have done well but I can't see them making the last 16 in the Champions League for quite a while...

3 in a row...7 to go!

yep and it could have easyily have been 5 but for skippy.and i think next year celtic know what they are up against and will not take it so easy and go the full hog . and this is not because im a celtic fan i really think rangers will fall by the side next year remember this is the first real test walter has had in all his years as a rangers manager

For those wondering about UEFA points and seeding for next year's CL, I'd refer you to :
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/index.html
This is the definitive guide, albeit unofficial, and even gives premliminary rankings for future seasons based on current points. It says that for next year, Celtic go straight into the group stage, thanks to Man U winning both the CL and the EPL, and will be seeded in either the 4th or 3rd pot, depending on results from the qualifiers. Rangers are currently in 24th ranking while Celtic have indeed dropped to 41st after losing their Seville run points tally, but Rangers will still only be in the third pot, not the 2nd (if they make it through qualifying - in fact, it would help shift us up a pot if they don't!)
Shamrock, we'd be sitting on 7 in a row but for the final day dramas of 2003 and 2005, where a goal or two made the difference... food for thought on the fickle nature of the beautiful game.

Two weeks ago all the talk was about the "quadruple". Now there will be a lot of suicides in Glasgow this week-end if Rangers fail to beat QOS in the cup final.

all this about Rangers and Celtic not being able to compete in the premier league is rubbish. It was even being talked about 15 years or so. even back then i think Rangers would have competed. think back 15 years and English clubs in europe were crap, diabolical, Scottish teams not so good either. Now obviously if it was that they joined (dont think it will happen away) they would have to take a few years to compete. But they already have the massive stadiums which is what every premier league club wants these days, put that on top of TV rights money in the english top flight and they would challenge.

You're welcome Shamrock!
Actually, I felt I should probably correct myself on the "nearly 7-in-a-row" statement I made, as I think it is actually nearly 8-in-a-row (2000/1 up to current 2007/8 title makes 8, with 2002/3 going to Gers on one goal extra and 2004/5 being lost to wee Oz's double at Fir Park) I got the 7-in-a-row from someone commenting before Helicopter Thursday I think.
