Well Done Celtic !

Scottish Premier Celtic
comment on the article

Well done Celtic for fighting the the very end and winning the league , in truth the best team won and we deserved to lose it. Im dissapointed to lose the league but the fact that the footballing world lost a true great this week in Tommy Burns makes you wonder is it worht it - Rivalry ? Hatred ? Bigotry ? Sectarianism ? Racism ? , when all these things are flying round the old firm people like Tommy were trying to bring them toghether and some people practically just threw it back in his face and sing about hatred , its not what football is about , The Tartan Army is what football fans are about.
anyways enjoy your success !

firstly, Rangers can only be considered to have a good season due to the previous two being terrible. a UEFA cup final is good. But the second stage of the champions league, the one rangers couldnt get to, is still better.

furthermore, celtic had a period where they were top and then they couldnt win for 6 games, and rangers one all 6. its all very well talking about decsisions, but i was disgusted to see in a old firm match this season All Mccoist cheering at one of his own players for injuring a celtic player, yet it never got replyed. Rangers, as a whole also get alot more decsisions going for them, you just have to look at dundee united. therefore, celtic fully deserve the title, and they play fair and attractive football. something rangers can only aspire to in the future. next season rangers getting to the last 16 would be a better achievement than the uefa cup final. a cup for second string europeen teams and champions league rejects.

Great win for Celtic, it really lookedlike Rangers had it sewn up a couple of weeks back. I know Strachen gets some stick, but to me he looks like he has done a great job.

I think the congestion of fixtures certainly had something to do with it. What might have gone differently if the amount of fixtures was flipped, and Celtic were playing so many games? Too late for "what-if" scenarios now, though.

Congrats to Celtic. You won the league...but there should be a big asterik beside your name. If there was ever a more tainted title we'll never see it. You can thank the game officials and the SFA for getting you lot about 10 more points than you rightly deserved.

Just remember, what goes around comes around. So don't expect any favours from anyone in the future.

So says the uneducated

First of all, if you choose to blame the powers that be for not extending the season further (it WAS extended, just not enough for your liking), then that is down to the SPL, not the SFA who tried to intervene on your behalf - clearly, when faced with the task of proposing alternatives they realised there weren't any without adversely impacting others. Unfortunate granted, but no real alternative

Second of all, Rangers have twice (at least) refused to move games to accomodate other clubs European efforts in recent years (Celtic and Hearts), so couldn't expect anything less in their hour of need (and even then were given that same favour by Gretna)

What do yo uexpect, everyone just change their plans whenever it suits Rangers? erm

Tiredness? how can an ultra defensive team be tired? They just absorb the pressure, mostly form weaker sides in the SPL.So where does the tiredness come from? From their two matches against Celtic? Fact is they were pathetic against Zenith.A disgrace, infact.
End of story!

Cheers!

jasbro,
Not only are you a sore loser, but your english is not too good either. The word is "asterisk", not "asterik". Celtic won the title fair and square, now go get some professional counselling.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. It's there for all to see. Rangers had one hell of a season. End of story. Losing the league on the final day of the season, CIS winners, Scottish Cup winners and a European final. The system worked for WS and if you know anything about football you have to acknowledge the fact that the system paid off.

Considering the rebuilding WS had to do over the last year it has been a successful campaign. It was a great finish to the SPL and hopefully it will as exciting next season. Rangers for life.

Chill, yo. I know there's a lot of Celtic-Rangers hate but MonTheSpiders had it right when he said that's not what football is about. Congratulations to Celtic, you're worthy champions. Rangers played a damn fine season, admittedly rather negatively, challenged on four fronts but couldn't win when it would have secured them the title. They've noone to blame but themselves as you can't expect your league to just up and make everything easier on one club at the expense of others. If Rangers hadn't done so well in all the other competitions they'd probably have won the league. It's a bit like United with the FA and Carling Cups. Who knows what would have appened if United had played an extra 5 or 6 games? And Rangers had about 15 more than Celtic!

That said, it is to late for what if games and possibilities, and Rangers in Europe were hardly an advertisement for Scottish football. The problem is that they seem to think they can't win against European teams, even at home. A more aggressive home strategy could pay off and give them confidence to take abroad.

Personally, I really want a different team to win the SPL next year just to break up the monotony, so I hope both Celtic and Rangers flop horribly next year. Nothing personal, you understand.
