I only saw about 30 mins of the golf on BBC at teatime but no-one was holing putts

In my youth there were always an enormous number of birdies when Wentworth was on TV

Why is Europe`s flagship evnt being played at this time of the year? Surely this event has enough prestige on the international golfing calender to warrant a more appropriate date. The greens are a disgrace! Can you blame Harrington for giving the tournament a wide birth.

Harrington never liked Wentworth even when the greens were at their best. Just a course that didn't fit his eye I think.

You're right about the greens though, they look awful on TV and the rest of the place looks scruffy in general, maybe its different if you were there.

Harrington is missing because he says he peaks after 3 consecutive tournaments and he wants to peak at the US Open.

That's why he's playing at Celtic Manor next week and is US the week after. Let's see if it works?

I was there and the course is not as bad as you all make out. The greens are not perfect but they are still in good condition, I can't see how you can say the 'place looks scruffy in general'.

What I said goldwolf is that on TV it looks scruffy, that surprised me because Wentworth always looks immaculate on TV. The rough seems very long and uneven and and the "spotty" looking greens made it look less than it's pristine best on TV. I did say also that it might be different if you are actually there and obviously (and thankfully) it is - the TV angles can often give a wrong impression.

...and that big Man Utd supporters bus/coach I saw passing through the course just makes the event look like a day out at Bognor! (Hope the weather keeps up for Mr.Whippy).

HeadfortMan, I watched yesterdays play on TV and you're right, the course does look worse on TV than it actually is. The greens do look a bit patchy on screen.

The rain should make todays play interesting.
