comment on the article

Who is the most charismatic golfer you have actually met and spoken too....for me Arnold Palmer [for about 2 hrs] back in 1966. Popeye in real life

Agree with ungifted on Jacklin.....good player for five years...good RC captain but ego was bigger than Ben Nevis. Not a nice man.

John Daly has to be the most Charismatic golfer. He was playing at Loch Lomond a few years back and was placed just outside the top 10 going into Sunday. After his 3rd round he took some of the staff at Loch Lomond to a local hotel and got Bladdered! Phoned the course 20 minutes before he was due to tee off on R4 too say that he was to hungover to make his teetime so withdrew. That says it all about John Daly, he is a great people's champion but ultimately his lifestyle has stopped him achieving to his full potential. worst is Lee Westwood, saw him a few years back walk by a couple of little kids who had been watchin and waiting for him for at least an hour when he was on the practise green and he just brushed them aside. now how much effort would it have taken to sign a couple of hats. Thought then and still think it now that there is a guy who takes himself too seriously.

Closest I have come was standing next to Westwood at an airporet carousel waiting for his clubs in 1999 (he now flies by private jet). Seemed pretty down to earth to me. Maybe he does take himself seriously as any world class sportsman should do. Forest-fan too, so that's even better.

The point about Westwood was that these Kids where no more than three or four and were gutted that he shunned them. As a world class sportsman he should have a duty to pose as a positive role model especially to the next generation.

Nick Faldo. Met him a couple of times in Spain, 'translating' for the local press. He has a quirky, off-beat, self-deprecating style of humour, and to me seemed self-conscious, and, moreover, hurt, that the English press had been giving him such a hard time. (It was shortly before he took off to Orlando) If any other nation had had him, he would have been a national treasure...what a pleasure to have seen him play, and to have enjoyed his company...

Jack Nicklaus - he designed a course near me and I was lucky enough to meet him twice. 1st time I got a photo with him, second time I got the photo autographed. It has pride of place in my sitting room and I bore everyone that calls by making sure they see it.

My employers have Gary Player as their corporate golf executive, great man and so down to earth.

I live in the same town as Azinger and he can be found practicing at The Concession http://www.theconcession.com/ . He is actually all right.
