Premier League Arsenal
comment on the article

i dunno y everyones gettin excited bout both of the players, they probably wont come to Arsenal. Not because they dont want to , its just Arsene Wenger will probably buy someone totally different who know one knows about, and again teams like barcelona chelsea Madrid and Inter will come in for the players

Dont believe all this transfer gossip... we all know how stupid it really is

i mean if and when they join mate. Walcott is not a regular mate. Try and keep up with the debate

--------------

Hes more regular than Rosicky Diaby and Eduardo who have been injured for a majority of the season..

Try and keep up with the facts!

I don't know why we as arsenal fans have to constantly defend ourselves against not fielding english players. Here are two amongst the many reasons:

1. As an example Nasri, as described by Wenger "He is young, quick and technically an outstanding player." You could by Lennon for similar money (transfer fee though lets face it he'd want more in wages) - young, quick and technically questionable.

2. UTD is run as a business first and football club second (arsenal dont knacker their players out by sending them around the world pre-season to 'build the brand'!), Chelsea used to be and is now one mans view of football first which has often left Stanford Bridge far from full. My team puts football first and if that means putting overpaid and underskilled home grown players second - so be it!

As a team with limited money compared to the other big four, Wenger has to spend his money wisely, it is sheer common sense not to go for the young British talent who have been brought up to believe they should be on ridiculous sums of money and demand as much. Instead go for the cheaper often more talented foreign players.I cannot see an argument against this.

Besides if the issue of a clubs national identity is brought into question its worth highlighting that while Liverpool-american, Man U-american, Chelsea-Russian, Arsenal are still an English club!!( But for how much longer remains to be seen!!!!!)

Exactly. I'm not an Arsenal fan but to hold Wenger responsible for the international team being rubbish is ridiculous. If the good English players don't exist in the first place, how is Wenger supposed to include them in his team? And don't give me the usual rubbish about Bentley and Walcott - both are very overrated and nowhere near as good as the likes of Hleb, Rosicky, Eduardo, Van Persie, Nasri etc.
And for the person who hopes Walcott will turn into a star in a year or so, don't hold your breath, even if Arsene plays him every week. He's quick and that's possibly the sum total of his ability.

Its always the clubs who are pointed to when this team is doing poorly - probably man for man the best paid team in the world on club wages. Too many egos, if the team was poorer as a whole then perhaps someone like Gerrard could lift the bar in the way that Ballack does for Germany but unfortunately he's surrounded by to many with no pride in the shirt - something which those in the past couldnt be accused of - no wonder becham is back - hes needed as much for his pride as his right foot. I'm all for a limit on the number of players who dont show pride in their shirt in the prem - but then lets face it, in the prem they do!

Everyone seem to go on a foreigh holiday to somewhere hot and cheap. Is it the food we get abroad, the holiday romance or the sunshine all the money spent on going on this luxury holiday could be spent on going to the lake district or blackpool. We all need to plough our money in our own society. We need to stop our parents from selling their properties and moving to spain. The whole wealth is been moved abroad what would happen to the future of their kids and families. If anyone falls into this category and criticises wenger or any manager based on wanting quality and technical abilities needs to clearly check that they are not been hypocrites. Lets eat only english beef and drink only english beer after all where brits

Re: Gunning for the Top (Formerly Walcott for England)

>>Go check out the current England youth teams, U16, U17 and U19. Then come back and claim Arsenal do nothing for England.

Sure, and how many of those young English players do you think will actually go on to make it into Arsenal’s first team let alone the full England squad? If the last 10 years is anything to go by you’ll be lucky to get one, and he’ll probably defect to Chelsea like Cashley Cole did once he sees the way the wind blows at Arsenal (hint: it ain’t toward the English)

So what if Arsenal has a couple of young players in the England U17s and U19s? If they were as good as you make out, they’d already be making it in the senior England squad by now. Owen, Rooney, Beckham, Scholes, Ferdinand etc. were all already playing for (or on the verge) of the full England squad by their late teens.
