Your dream wish list for F1 on the BBC

Formula One
comment on the article

Hi all,

We are in the early stages of planning how F1 will be covered on the BBC next year.

That means across all three media - TV, radio and online.

We obviously have our own thoughts about what a true tri-media approach to covering F1 might mean. Certainly, we see the three forms all working together to make the BBC the place to come for the best F1 coverage.

But we're sure you have some thoughts, too. And we would be pleased to hear them.

In patricular, I would be most interested to hear your views on what the BBC F1 website should be and contain from next year - whether that be in terms of video, news, comment, interactivity, stats or whatever.

So please let us know your thoughts. We can't promise to include them all, but I can assure you we will take every one of them seriously.

Thanks - and I look forward to reading your comments.

"James Allen annoys me, quite a bit".

Loving that understatement!

Thanks for asking:

Martin Brundle is a must. He is so witty, knowledgeable and succinct.

'The Chain' too please. It is the best F1 tune ever...

...and what is wrong with celebrating the fact that we again have a winner? Lewis is not the first Brit to win and will not be the last but HE is doing it at the moment. You only had to be at Siverstone to understand how much he is appreciated by F1 fans (and we like his dad's dedication.)

Friday practice on one of your channels please.

Lots of interactive stuff, as with Wimbledon and Chelsea, that we can still access for a given period when the race is over.

Thanks again BBC. We know you will do a great job and are thrilled that you have F1 back...aaah...no adverts.xxx

No more adverts - Thank God! More of Martin Brundle - the man is fantastic. DO NOT employ Mark Blundell - He really winds me up. Much as the top gear 3 stooges would be funny, they would ruin it after a while, so stick with Martin.

Martin Brundle is a complete must, but he should commentate not host, to have him hosting would be like paying hamilton to drive the McLaren truck to & from circuits rather than do the job he's most talented at....

How do you know that Lewis wouldn't be a fine truck driver?

Martin Brundle to stay on as a commentator. You'll read this over and over, and if you really mean what you mean with this article, you'll try your best to get him as one.

No more James Allen.

A Live Internet Video feed like ITV provide is very useful indeed.

High Definition would be awesome.

Fans of F1 are generally geeky about it all. DO NOT DUMB IT DOWN AND TREAT EVERY BROADCAST LIKE YOU'RE APPEALING TO NEW WATCHERS!

Maybe have guest commentators. Ex-racers and maybe even Murray Walker at the British GP :D

Oh and DO NOT dumb it down with Top Gear Presenters. The TG crew do a fine job, and I enjoy TG a lot. However, if I ever heard Richard Hammond say something like "so why don't you put machine guns in the sidepods", or "he just sort of... fell off the track and had an accident thingy" I'd be praying for ITV coverage again, even with the mind-numbing adverts.

Do NOT dumb it down. It's a sport, not a 'who can say the funniest thing' show!

Well there's a certain Jim Rosenthal unemplyed at the moment. He's the only guy other than Rider who could do the job. He didn't know much about F1 when he first presented it on ITV but boy did he do himself proud. Such a professional, no one can doubt that!

Please, please, please no James Allen, He is incredibly annoying. I have spent the last couple of years watching the tv with the volume down and listening to 5 Live instead (their commentary is pretty much 100% better). Martin Brundle is ok though.

Definitely show qualifying as a separate show and show the races live. (really looking forward to no ad breaks!)

Would love to have the chain as the theme again.

Put it on iplayer too (having some way in which it can be watched on the internet whilst out of the country or when return to the country would be great)

Releasing old grand-prixs in full either on the internet or to buy.

A tad less partial to Lewis Hamilton would be fab ... I'm a Lewis fan but enough is enough, there are a few other drivers out there.

Less assumption that those watching in england must only care about the english drivers!

Can we please have less bias, coverage towards Lewis Hamilton. Lewis is not bigger than the sport itself, it is not the LH F1 WC, there are 20 other drivers. Not ever British person is a Lewis fan.

I am sure the BBC coverage will be better than ITV.

Can we also have Friday and Saturday free practice in the way the Germans can enjoy on Premiere.
