Its a decent signing for Birmingham, but bear in mind that he is 34 going on 35 next Feb, so he is going to be alot slower than he used to be, and probably less physically fit. You can only go on for so long.

However, if there was one thing Birmingham missed last season, it was some experience. Wont matter so much in the Championship now but atleast its going to sort out their shoddy back 4 for the time being.

Good sigining for that league and i am gutted you beat Derby to him. He is not a world beater but he does all the right things and is always a 7/10 player. If you want an instant return thats the kind of player you need...unlike Lily Savage! I Think you have just signed your ticket back to the Prem.

Agreed with most of the above comments, experience and age is lacking in the squad. However, do we need a striker who is able to net 20+ next season? Let's face it we've been pretty woeful with strikers who can get into double figures at least! Who's available though? Or do we hope that the Force can get back to the form he had when we signed him?

Everton fan in peace.

Lee Carsley arrived at Goodison in 2002 as a 1st Division journeyman, and a last desperate act of a departing Walter Smith. It was fully expected that he'd go under the new Moyes revolution, but that wasn't a case. He performed to the maximum of his ability for 6 years running and established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders outside the Big 3. He's got at least 1 more good season in him, Birmingham have done great to get him. The move for Carlsey is more for family reasons than footballing. He doesn't need the money, he's more concerned about seeing his kids grow up and being closer to where he himself grew up. Not to mention that he's a Birmingham fan at heart.

Birmingham have got a bargain, but whether you've got a manager capable of getting the best out of him, I don't know.

As an Everton fan Carsley was probably the most consistent player we had last season. A grafter who will do a fantastic job in the championship next season breaking up play. I think most teams outside the top 3 would fancy him at least in their squad. A great option for man marking deep lying forwards and target men as long as they dont have too much pace. Well he is getting on a bit.
