English chances up in smoke v All Blacks?

International Wales
comment on the article

With Cipriani likely to be out of the tour, has this seriously damaged Englands chances against the AB's or could it be seen as a blessing in disguise as he can now continue his international education in calmer waters.

Any thoughts

<<I think they should throw the youngest backline out possible. Take them aside and say look lads this is the possible backline for the next ten years go out, have some fun and try things. With a backrow of Haskell, Rees etc. there's so much pace that even if the passes don't go to hand it will not be as punnishing as if the backrow was Dallaglio, Corry etc. it's only a summer test after all and rather than see the same old boring England, 9 - 10 kick try and steal lineout and stiffle the attack. Lets see England throw it about abit>>

this is far and away the most sensible thing i have ever read on this forum. Well Said mate.

Having watched the match on Sunday, both Goode and Lamb sufferred against the wind, and were fine with it (Goode was rubbish in the first half against the wind, second with it and he could't miss)

Not seen enough of Hodgson this year to comment, but don't think Geraghty or Barkley have played enough at 10 this year to pick in that position. I think Lamb is closest in style to Cipriani and maybe should have been called up for that reason, that would stuff up the saxons tour so thats why I think they have left him where he is, especially as he wouldn't have necessarily been first pick in the main squad

Why God Why, Hogson...
Fills me and no one i know with any confidence, as i said in another post. Surely this lack of faith in him will breed some insecurities in the backline, i cant believe they don't pick up some of these feelings.
30 caps and yet to give the impression he's able to take a game by the neck, whether he was playing in a down period for england or not, how does this effect his goal kicking - which could have won over half the games if made. Good at club not for England.
Current squad imo, put in Barkley at 10 - solid player, maybe not the best but wont cause us agony like hodgson. However i agree with some of the comments saying its a test send out the youngsters, Lamb has been on top form this season, as he was last season. He is young, but he can kick and attack, defence is decent perhaps not great, but considering the lack of innovation England has shown of late, players like him, Hipkiss, Flood, Strettle, Simpson-Daniel, Sackey and Tait, all show dynamism and the ability to be solid in defence (sad there not all fit) but i would rather watch England lose by 30 points and see them play exciting rugby, with an aim to move foward rather than trudge it out watching same old.

Ryan Lamb? Has anyone seen him do anything when the pressure wasd on or against a side playing well. He totally bottled it against Leicster and against Bath at the Rec earlier in the season to name but two incidents. Can't kick, can't tackle and can't think.

Likewise, though it pains me to say it, Olly Barkley is the most indecisive and mentally weak player I've seen on a rugby pitch. At least Ryan Lamb can pass and run angles. Barkley just seems to stop and wait for the tackle.

I'm amazed more people aren't talking about Flood at 12. The lad is a superb talent. England din't have a problem throwing him into the six nations in 2006 when he was twenty one and he and Geraghty orchistrated the destruction of France. If the later were fit I'd go with Flood at ten and Shane at 12 but as it is I'd pick Hodgson as he's the form ten in the premiership. His kicking game is under-rated too.

9. Care (P. Hodgson if they'd picked him)
10. C. Hodgson
11. Strettle
12. Flood
13. Noon
14. Sackey
15. Tait

20. Richards
21. Barkley (over experience on Lamb as they're the only two left fit)
22. M. Brown (JSD if fit)

new zealand do have injuries,
rokocoko will be missing the tour, but you seem to be forgetting that this is new zealand, they have two world class teams so they will not have any trouble finding players to fill the gaps, and england should not even think about what team they are putting out, all you have to think about is that its new zealand, and its not the world cup so they will play their game to a very high standard, same with south africa and australia. hipkiss deserves his place and so does oli barkley

mate bath were in it to bin, nothing they did was against the rules, the tackle on cipriani was perfectly legal so stop moaning! in rugby people will get hurt!! if you were to play them, i put money on you getting injured! but thats not down to they team, they are just playing their game!

Bathandlancsfan, i like it when people talk sensible rugby on the forum, Flood is the most exciting option for 10 at the moment. Imagine having him AS WELL as Cipriani and Wilkinson. Needs a chance to prove himself though i think.
