Derby make £700k offer for Bodde?

Championship Swansea City
comment on the article

I've heard big rumours a few places Derby like the look of him. I don't think they'd get him for under a million though, and i'm not even sure they'd sell him for that. It'd probably take a silly offer to prise Ferrie away now.

Your thoughts?

If ferrie were to leave the swans,I'd like to think he'd pick a better team & place than derby county

We can start selling our stars, thats the problem our rivals Cardiff have. Whenever they find themselves in posession of anyone with talent they sell them straight away then a year later they try to get them back on loan... Chopra.... Earnshaw... jerome.....

We have to keep our talent!!!

We're not at Cardiff's level yet. Like it not, they're now an established Championship side with a bloody good youth system.

We do have certain advantages over them in that we're not up to our eyeballs in debt and fan owned, but we've still got some catching up to do.

That sounds a petty comment to make, granted we're not a massive club, but I would put us somewhere in the region of
15 - 20th in the country, we've Prem ambitions, and have a good set-up with regards to stadium/training facilities etc.

Oh, yes, and 32,000+ average gate this season, 12th in the country. Our team's been pants, but hopefully that will change as we get better players like Bodde in.

Let's be honest about this.

Swansea are a decent club, probably realistically targeting a position somewhere between 14th and 20th this coming year. We are NOT a big club, not even a middle-large club yet, even if we have the potential to become one.

Derby are a good club, targetting a straight return to the premiership and would be surprising to finish outside the top 8. They are a middle-large club at the moment with a year of premier attendances/ticket prices behind them AND parachute payments.

Derby are by far the bigger team and by far teh better option for Bodde if he wants to make the premiership. The only questions for him should be really does he think he will get frist team football enough there.

Having watched him for a year I would say that the answer is yes, he is good enough now for the lower premiership for me in terms of ability. He just needs to work on his long-term fitness a bit (he looked very jaded over the last 10 games of the season with us, likely becaue he is used to 30-40 game seasons not 50+) which he can do this year.

As for a price, some of you are quoting stupid figures here. £2m? £4m? ridiculous.

If we could get £1m-£1.2m I would be more than happy, perhaps £1m + Moore or Claude Davis would be ideal.

Some very good comments there, but I'd be disappointed if the club sold him for less than £2m. Not because he's worth it (on the open market he's clearly not), but because we have to set a marker for our own progression as a club.

Historically a couple of hundred thousand has generally been enough to make us part with our better players. Recently it took a million to get Trundle, which was a big leap forward in how we were able to fend off wealthier clubs. We can make a big statement about where we see ourselves in the football firmament if we can move that figure on.

We're now a Championship club. We should be charging Championship prices for our players.

I do not want him to go. The club shouldn't let him go unless the money they get can pay for a better player. The club needs to progress, not take a step backwards

when i read hackerjacks comment at first i thought he was talking a bit of sense..were not as big a club as derby and bodde will be much more likely to be playing premiership football after next season with derby than with us...however 1.2mil and DARREN MOORE or CLAUDE DAVIS!!!!!!!????i put these 2 defenders in the same category as TITUS BRAMBLE they are the worst defenders i have ever seen even worse than league 2 defenders..its rubbish when people say how they were undone by the awesomeness of the premiership because 90% of the goals that derby conce3ded in the prem came down to absolute basic errors from these 2 aswell as leacock!i would be horrified if swansea took on these defenders let alone actually paid money in order to get them!anyone who thinks that moore or davis would be good signings for swansea know absolutely nothing about football in my opinion!!
