Russia are hitting the Swedes on the counter attack and should be five or six nil up. Real clear cut chances on a 2 against 1 basis but they are fluffing them.

Still don't rate Ibrahimovic.

Hiddink nearly walloping the 4th official by accident <laugh>.

Guiza! About time.

GRE 1-2 ESP

Could have been 3, if Alonoso wasn't so unlucky.

Russia are queuing up to score. But they haven't <yikes>.

Sweden are so poor, it is unbelievable.

Full Time:

Russia 2 - 0 Sweden <biggrin>

1pt to me! And a place in the QFs <biggrin>.

Russia had loads of good chances at the end?

How did Spain manage to win? <yikes>

Terrific cross from Sergio Garcia to an open Guiza, easy header into the net. No chance for the 'keeper.

Sweden always looked as if they were going to score - Xabi Alonso had 5 good chances himself!

Greece was just not good enough, end of.

Spain v Italy

What do you think?

I think Russia defended superbly well today by their usually low standards. They key for Russia is defence. In attack they are easily as good as any side in the tournament with Arhsavin in there but in the centre-backs is where the problems begin. But today they defended well although there wasn't much movement for Swedish strikers. If the centre-backs play like today against Holland then Russia have a good chance. But if they play the way they did against Spain or Greece then they will get destroyed.

Let's hope it's the latter then. ;)

I really want to see Holland go far in this tournament, they've been playing such fantastic football. And anyway, I'd love to see a Holland v Spain semi, so let us hope that both the Russians and Italy get bounced!

(Holland win 6-5 on pens)

Alonso looked very decent indeed. Heard a cheeky rumour he was leaving Liverpool, is there anything in that? Juventus after him apparently?

And De La Red, is he back at Real next season?
