Carson

Liverpool

I notice in the media that Carson is unhappy with Liverpool's valuation of him. Does he not realise that he signed a contract for a set length of time and until it expires, or he can buy himself out, he belongs to the club and they can do whatever they like?

If he wasn't prepared to accept this he should have signed a shorter contract, or not signed at all. As fans, he's taken our money and the secure option of a long term fixed contract. It makes me sick that he's throwing it back in our face.

It should be noted that I do agree that 10m is probably over the odds and that Liverpool need to be carefull they don't alienate future players. I do expect however (as normally happens) at Liverpool, he will go in the end for a sensible sum. Normally at that point I'd wish him luck, but after his outburst, I don't think I'm going to be able to.

Carson is worth between 7 and 8.5 million Pounds English.

Gareth Barry is worth around 12 million English.

O'Neill is furious that

1. Carson wants to leave.

2.Rafa has him over a barrell on the Carson issue.

If O'Neill insists that Barry is worth 17m, then Rafa will say Carson is worth £10m.

So - Liverpool can't try and get the best price for their players then???
Carson had a price agreed with Villa last season when his loan started the price hasn't changed & as for Crouch - £15m reasonable if you think of what Bent cost Spure valuation of Ashton - why sC keep selling their players on the cheep?

-----------------------------------------------
Have Villa complained about the price at all? No we havent we have said nothing about it, we havent offered less (or if we have we havent leaked it to the press) Whereas Liverpool have offered a disrespectful sum for Barry.

Another difference is Barry hasnt moaned that Villa want more than £10mn but it is your own players moaning about their price tags. Also one of my main points was that Barry in todays market was worth at least £15mn whereas Carson is probably worth £5mn tops and Crouch about £10mn. Yes Liverpool are trying to get the most they can but everyone knows that no one will buy either for that price. The only people who lose out are the two players which is unfair.

The difference in the situation is that Barry is apprently in demand and playing regular football, Carson isnt in demand anymore and wont be playing regular football. Crouch is in demand but not for £15mn so he wont be leaving either.

Carson is good
there is no doubt there but he is not worth 10 million
but i think he needs to move from liverpool for the sake of his own career to get first team football because if he stays at liverpool i personally dont think he will be able to take away pepe reina's place in the team

Carson is the worst keeper ever to pull on the villa shirt. To exchange him for Barry would be the most diastrous piece of business since ....well, ever. Send him back to Liverpool, and tell Benitez to look elswhere for worl class midfielders at knock-down prices. If O'Neill cant handle this one then he's in the wrong job.

I just want to say that I would rather have Crouch than Barry regardless of which one's worth more. Carson is 22 so if he plays as long as david james and also cements himself as the eventual england number 1 and england manage to qualify for the world cup and euros over the next 10-15 years he could be cheap at £10m.

Clearly none of you understand haggling.

Seller: I want 500 for it

Buyer: I'll give you 100

Seller: OK, I can let you have it for 450

Buyer: I can't pay more than 200

Seller: I might be able to drop it down to 300

Buyer: I think I can scrape together 250.

Seller: OK, deal.

If Rafa says he wants to SELL for 10, he will probably accept 7, if he says he wants to BUY for 10, he will probably go as high as about 15.

LFC ambitions (if BBC gossip column is to be believed...)

Sir Alex Ferguson wants to spend his £50m summer transfer budget within the next fortnight, with Micah Richards and Sevilla's Brazilian duo Luis Fabiano and Daniel Alves top of his wish-list. (Daily Mirror)

Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine has emerged as a shock £1m target for Liverpool. (Daily Mirror)

This makes depressing reading, I must say. Doesn't seem to matter what Carson goes for.
