Van Heerden for Sarries

comment on the article

Saracens have signed 29-year-old South Africa flanker Wikus van Heerden from Super 14 side Blue Bulls.

Van Heerden will join the Premiership club in November after the end of his two-year deal with the Bulls.

As ever, we would like your thoughts on Van Heerden. The South African, along with Michael Owen and Steve Borthwick, will bolster the pack next season but do Saracens need to make more signings?

I must agree with Stellar, that when farrel plays he has done very well. Also, if you are going to have a go at someone, then make sure your spelling is correct! Farrell for the majority of the season played exceptionally well. He formed a formidable partnership with Jackson and Sorrell. Its just a shame he picked up his injury at the end of the season. Also Seymour has confirmed he is not moving next year. He is staying with saracens.

Dickens has gone to Northampton.
Audley has been released.
Liffchak also.
Seymour signed a new contract just weeks ago.
Unlikely as it may seem, we have been linked to NZ RL star Sonny Bill Williams as an outside centre.

Oy membername. The only time Farrell has impressed was against biaritz and against the scarlets. apart from that he has really not done that much, he hardly ever passes ball and doesnt really make much ground when he crashes. He thinks too much like a forward to be a centre. I think that we should really exspect more from someone who is aparently meant to be "GOOD". Powell has got much more of a rugby union brain and reads the game a lot better. seeing that he is only young and Farell is getting on a bit we need to turn to our future!!!!

Just a correction to the original post, the Super 14 TEAM is called The Bulls, the regional team (the one that takes part in Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup tournaments) is called The Blue Bulls. The rugby union the Bulls play under is called the Blue Bulls RU.

Semantics, I know, but they have a big meaning, especially to South Africans and the Currie Cup. Super 14 teams are not the same as the Currie Cup teams in terms of coach, players, uniform.

I would love to think that the reason Toby Flood hasnt signed for Leicester yet is that we are talking to him. To have a guy who can play equally effectively at 10 & 12 would be ideal for us.

Also when you count the games so far played by both Jack & Russell - next season is going to be the start for both of these internationals. Let's also remember that we have an England Saxons prop in Mercey dying for a chance at 1 or 3 and a 6 nations international prop in Aguelo learning about the pace of the GP.

Yes we do need more class and consistency in the centres. Powell is very promising - but a lot of sides think we have a huge weakness with the on pitch gap between 10 & 12 (how many times did Lamb, Cipriani, James & Barclay skip through it at the end of the season?. For all his wonderful tackles and strong runs, Kev has never been able to time a pass and I am afrais the jury is still out on Farrell - sheer class at times but a pre-programmed donkey at others.

We do need good(e) cover for Glenda. If Ross plays like he did against Wasps at HQ or like he did vs Bristol - he could still prove to be an astute buy, but if he plays like he did against Scarlets......

Which brings me back to my original thought. How good would Toby Flood be for Sarries?

Whats that about possibly signing Sonny Bill Williams? he could be a great outside centre and really put some excitment in to the centers....i have to agree about farrel being very disapointing, hes not atall a bad player but there seems to be no creativity...and yeah i also think toby flood would be a nice singing ahead of having gordan ross, im sorry but he has got to be one of the worst fly halfs going

Farrel only makes the team worse.

When he is fit he is still rubbish.

A nice young centre from South Africa will do nicel.

We have lacked an inside centre of any real class - now we should go forward.

You have to be joking.

Farrel, is too slow, too old, too slow witted, too fragile.

He isn't even the best 12 at Saracens.

I expect his son is better than him.
