Wednesday's gossip column

Premier League
comment on the article

So apparently Patrice Evra is yet to sign a new deal at Manchester United. The Frenchman only has a year left on his contract with United yet to offer him a suitable deal.

Wednesday's gossip

I would suggest that the most important signing United make this summer should be that of Evra who is establishing himself as one of the outstanding left-backs in world football. Do you agree?

Another day, another Didier Drogba rumour. I'm not a Chelsea fan but I'd be getting slightly annoyed with constant gossip surrounding his future if I was.

Drogba has also accused his side of complacency and carelessness...is that fair?

Any Spurs fans out there?

Tottenham have this morning been linked with David Bentley and Nicolas Anelka. Anelka seems unlikely but how would you feel about Bentley?

Richard Dunne to West Ham is also doing the rounds this morning. Does that mean the club are preparing to lose Anton Ferdinand?

I think Richard Dunne would be a good signing for West Ham, a good reliable defender, but I don't think it's that likely we would get him.
I think West Ham needs to make a number of signing to make sure we can challenge for Europe next season. We need a left-back: I would go for Nicky Shorey, Matt Taylor or Jon Arne Riise, a midfielder with flair: Joe Cole would be my dream choice but unlikely, Aaron Lennon, Shaun Wright-Philips or Shunsuke Nakamura. A striker with pace: Lukas Podolski or Mauro Zárate. And a versatile player: James McFadden.
We need to get Rob Green, Mark Noble and Dean Ashton on long-term contracts.
We need to sell the deadwood: Luis Boa Morte, Lucas Neill, Carlton Cole, Nigel Quashie, Calum Davenport, Kieron Dyer are a few examples.
I also think that Alan Curbishley is not the man to take us forward and we should look at getting a new manager. I would go for Sven-Goren Erikson, Gordon Strachan, Slaven Bilic, Luiz Felipe Scolari or Marcello Lippi would be on the shortlist.

Westcountryhammer I totally agree that we need to sell players we dont need anymore, our squad is now clogging up with needless and useless players - another player we should sell would be John Painstil

Great article, evra has be the best left back in the premiership for the past wo seasons, hes quick, athletic, great on the ball, great going foward, great defensively....honestly,hes the best full back Ive seen since Denis Irwin...Fergie wont let him go anywhere. As for Ronaldo, there is no chance hes leaving...at this moment in time Real Madrid is a step backwards and theycouldnt afford 100 mil anyway.
Id like to see United bring in 1.Luis Fabiano/Karim Benzema
2.Micah Richards
3.Mauro Zarate

i think managing to keep valencia and palacios would be the best step forward for us. I doubt that will happen though with people like united they're not gona stay at wigan and who can blame them. But id also like them to bring in a decent striker as our top scorer this season was marcus bent with 7 says it all really. What you think?

Do real Madrid ever quit? The owners have already stated that the will not force alex ferguson to sell. SAF wont sell - Ronaldo has said he does not want to leave. REAL GIVE UP.

Evra is a very good left-back. Very consistent and reads the game fairly well. What i think ManU wants is a right back, a young left winger and a young Forward. The right back is needed because Brown will need a partnership bcuz Neville is not consistent and Hargreaves needs to stay in his midfield position. Nani is not consistent and Giggs to me only has a year or two as Footballer and the forward is needed bcuz we need a striker no more roaming forwards and Fabiano would be a good acquisition with Benzema makin a entrance next season.

Does anyone think that SAF might be persuaded to take another look at Sylvan Ebanks Blake.I know that he was at Man United originally, and that Ian Holloway managed to persaude Fergie to let him go to Plymouth. He then moved to Wolves, and ended the season as one of top goal scorers in the Championship.I have heard that David Moyes has shown an interest in taking him to Everton, but If SAF feels the need to sign another strker, this could be one for the future.

-----------------------

Why would Utd consider Eubanks-Blake when we already have Fraizer Campbell who's already at least just as good and 3 or 4 years younger?!

Regarding Real there's persuing a player and then there's harrasment, how many times the club in question and the player themselves have to declare their lack of interest? In defence of Man Utd we all know there's some tapping up (by all clubs) but over 3 or 4 years to one of your peers (an by that I meam a club of similar stature and financial clout)? The presidential elections in Spain are always a joke and I find it ridiculous open claims to tapping up by the candidates are never penalised by FIFA.

Just finished watching the UEFA cup final, said after he was outstanding against us in Moscow and after watching him against Bayern Munich but why aren't bigger clubs linked with Arshavin more often?

Still say Robbie Keane who got the same number of Goals as Berbatov should go to UTD. Man Utd that is. He has a good work rate and has consistently scored more goals than Roo for the last few seasons.
