Have Donegal Celtic been treated fairly?

Irish Northern Ireland
comment on the article

The verdict is in and the Irish FA has announced the 12 teams who will play in next season's new 12 Premier League.

The top flight now has four fewer clubs and places in the revamped top flight were given out, not just on results on the pitch, but also on things like facilities and provision for youth and women's football.

The big losers in Tuesday's annoucement are west Belfast club Donegal Celtic who were 11th in the Carnegie Premier League this season.

Having battled their way up to the Premier League two years ago, the Suffolk Road club now face a return to intermediate football.

They were an unlucky 13th in the ratings revealed by the IFA, behind Institute and First Division club Bangor.

DC are not happy. Have they been treated fairly or should Donegal Celtic protest about their exclsuion?

Nah LFTG that wasn't me that day outside the DC laugh, but you would have found a few of our part-timers at that game because we were away to Institute that day. Personally I wouldn't give my money to those clowns only if the reds were playing!

We don't get it quite as bad as you when we go up, we can drink in the club at half time only really but we have to watch on that $h!tty grass bank too. What I meant was you can't go into the place for a quiet pint or two even during the week when there is no game on, its a members only place thats why nobody likes it.

DocEamon501:

We just don't get anything at all laugh. If you were a Cliftonville fan you would be better travelling all the way to Institute. At least you get a roof over your head and there are better facilities. When my supporters club go up to the Stute game we stop off at a place called Inn At The Cross. Its a wee hotel 5 minutes away from the ground. We stop get a meal and deserts and drinks and take our time. Then about 2.30 we head to the ground for the match. Check it out DocEamon501. Its a nice place and does nice food. Next time you go up pop in and get lunch ok

i think dc should take the decision with dignity and accept it.how can a team that gives away fan a grassy bank to stand on through the winter months expect to be invited to the top teir of football in northern ireland.its laughable. and if half the people who went to the meeting last week went and supported the team on a saturday maybe they wouldnt be in the situation they are in now. get your house in order dc and earn your place in the premier league

Everyother team got their house in order- DC didn't, they knew what they had to and didn't. I still don't understand how they even got a domestic license, because their ground is a joke.

It isn't political, you ask any independant person to even have a walk round the grounds that were in and around the same standings as DC and they will all say the same- it's the worst ground in the league- by a country mile.

My guess would be that they didn't take their application seriously enough.

I know that the Crues handed in 16 files filled with arguments as to why we should be in the league, so the IFA did not have a choice but to put us in, as we had ticked every box they asked.

DC probably handed in a piece of file paper saying, We are DC, We're from West Belfast and even if we don't do anything to improve our facilities you can't kick us out or we'll get Gerry on the case.

What if it can be proven that the selection process wasn't fair and above board? If DC can do this then they must have a means to have it aired and reviewed by an independent forum.
If not, they must accept the result and think about promotion next season.
The same rule should apply to all clubs. All clubs should retain the right to appeal if they feel it can be justified.
Let's reserve any judgement until we hear the evidence. Where there appears to be a reluctance to explain how the points scoring was done, conspiracy theories abound. Stories of clubs buying up junior teams to enhance their application forms, and unusual delays in ratifying building grant applications, will add to the thoughts that there is something to hide.

Bonner wise up, saying 'I wont let these people do this to my club' face facts YOU did this to your club no-one else, you chose to sit back and do nothing and expect to get into the league because your a Nationalist team ,and if you didnt you would go crying to Sinn Fein, saying those bad men wont let me play.
Wake up and smell the coffee, West Belfast doesnt want you or your club, this was evident by the pitiful turnout of support at the Irish Cup Semi-final, the so called biggest day in your clubs history and you could only muster abou 200 supporters. The people of West Belfast have done this to your club not the IFA, accept this with some dignity and you might get more people on your side but playing a political game will get you no-where.
